Here we go. Roberts Court tees up Abortion issue just in time for elections

My main confusion is about this part:

Opponents of the law say it would effectively limit the state of 4½ million to one abortion provider.

Is there only one Hospital in Louisiana? If so is there only one abortion facility that is within 30 miles of said hospital?

A lot of hospitals have been doing away with admitting privileges unless you are a staff physician or agree to basically be an indentured servant for the hospital. Very few physicians with stand-alone practices in our area have admitting privileges any more because they would 1) be required to do rounds just to go see their one patient and 2) would be required to agree to do those rounds for basically free.

Anyway, interesting about Kavanaugh. Seems like he is a justice you have to be able to show actual harm for instead of theoretical harm.

Well then the obvious solution is for the States that want to do this to set standards for admitting privileges.

And if the abortion provider truly believes in what they are doing, they should suck it up.

Perhaps. It is just a way for "Health systems" to force you to use their providers. Except for one day surgery, pretty much every patient has to be admitted through ER at our hospital, which of course allows them to stick on a big fat ER charge on top of it.

It also has to do with malpractice. If you look at half the admittance paperwork it's legal cover your ass fluff.

Authoritarian Republicans hostile to privacy rights should be careful what they wish for.

When the Court overturns Roe, conservatives seeking to increase the size and authority of the state at the expense of individual liberty will face a significant political backlash.
