Has humanity “jumped the shark”?

The phrase “jump the shark” comes from a Happy Days episode where the Fonz, on waterskies, jumped over a shark. The expression describes a moment when something that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality.

When did humanity reach its peak? How about the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989? Or would you give a nod to 2009, when President Obama took office and smart phones became an everyday item, promising to link the entire world in a collective spirit of peace and prosperity? How did that work out?

When did it all start to go downhill, and autocrats reversed the march toward democracy? The war in Ukraine is sooo 20th century. Really, this again? Has history become derivative? All the songs have been sung. All the pictures have been drawn. All the stories have been told. For years, it’s been mostly sampling and sequels.

If you think my perspective is West-centric, please show me a place on earth where humanity is taking a leap forward.

Should we expect this “show,” the story of human history, to be cancelled?

Among the greatest mistakes or misgivings or blunders of the average modern human mind is believing (for some unimaginable reason, more on this later) that mankind as a whole has become more civilized from millennia ago to the present, in believing mankind has been developing on some great golden upward trajectory, out of the darkness of the primordial ooze and ever onward toward some shining evolution into benevolent beings possessed of the qualities of endless goodwill, world peace and individual freedom. In fact, the opposite is true.

Mankind came from the cosmic wound dripping savagery, barbarism and contempt for his fellow human beings and that violent, murderous state of species birth has never changed its base nature, not for one moment, not for one single heartbeat or breath.

The only thing that has changed for the average man, for the better (in some limited modern civilizations) is the tendency of the most savage and powerful among us to want us lowly lowborn peasant masses to survive long enough to harvest us, at every stage of life, for the wealth and power we can provide to make them even wealthier and more powerful.

Americans, for example (a prime example) have existed in a vacuum of false safety and sanctuary since the end of their own civil war 157 years ago. For a century and half Americans have lived under the false belief that only their nation is becoming more civilized and is special or unique in that regard, while also believing (falsely) that war, famine, pestilence, collapse of government and/or personal/national apocalypse could never befall them, never happen here. Sure, bombs can drop on civilian heads in places like Iraq, Syria or the Ukraine but never from the skies over their own neighborhoods.

Justice, rule of law, safe living—all of these American or First World concepts are mere illusions leading people at large to (falsely) believe mankind has become more civilized than ever before in his history. This was never the truth, and it is not the truth today—not anywhere on the planet. Our civilization and society exist in this vacuum of fake security and stability only because the most violent and powerful among us, our glorious rulers, wish it to be so. All of that illusory civility could be wiped away in an instant and someday shall be erased.

We human beings are no more civilized today, in 2022, than were our most savage, cave dwelling ancestors eons ago. That is the uncensored truth.

The fall of the Berlin Wall should have been a turning point for the better.
It should have been the end of Marxist oppression.
But, it looks like Marxist totalitarianism is coming back hard and the Democrats are who are bringing it.
It looks like the Left have used schools and pop culture to indoctrinate young people in failed left wing ideology.
Look at what the Democrats have done to our cities.
