Today in China (not quite in the US yet, wait) it's anti-Japan day.

People have the day off, the parade's on, with a host of dodgy and corrupt leaders all enjoying a trip at their taxpayers' expense.

It's all designed for nationalistic rhetoric to keep the people happy as they can't vote.

On another note, not much different to nationalistic nonsense in the US to keep the people happy, though the US govt is more likely (at present) to go to war to keep people in their place. China's not ready for that just yet.

Bwaha, silly Chinese. Someday they'll figure out that it's easier to give the people the illusion of a vote than to keep it down. Plus your media makes a whole lot more money talking about nothing but bread and circus.

Now just what in the fuck is it to you what the US does domestically when you are somewhere in Europe/Russia? You don't have enough shit going on over there?

Where am I exactly? Oh wait, you have no idea. Maybe I have a night job......

We could make a thread of unfounded suspicions, but this isn't it.

President Xi represents the PLA's interests, contrary to his predecessor who was a pacifist, and he is pushing China for further militarization to take control of the South China Sea. The Chinese economy is taking a nose dive because of China's increasing military spending, which is outpacing the country's economic growth. China says its military budget will increase by 10.1% to $145 billion this year, making China the world's second-largest military spender.

However, Xi is planning on reducing China's military by 300,000...so...

Chinese troops were not marching alone on the commemorative date: They were joined by their fellow soldiers from Belarus, Cuba, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Serbia, Tajikistan and Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who took part in the celebratory events in Beijing on Thursday, said that the lessons of World War II should be remembered to minimize military conflicts around the world.

During a meeting with Xi, he agreed with his counterpart that Russia and China are “united by a strategic relationship and, as we say, a comprehensive partnership,”adding“what is also important is the way we perceive historical problems."

Russia and China should not forget "the cruel actions of invaders on the temporarily occupied territories, which resulted in innumerable victims."

"But we must remember this to make sure that nothing like this happens again in the future. I listened carefully to your speech at the parade, I believe that was the main message of your speech addressed to the people of China and the peoples of the entire world, namely: everything must be done to prevent large-scale military conflicts in the future and to minimize military conflicts in general," Putin said.

Leaders of USA, France, Germany and other EU leaders were invited but preferred not to show up. China lost about 20 million people during the war with Japan. Only Russia lost more people than China in WW2. (No other country has lost more people than Russia did during WW2)
