Hamas boasts of continued tunnel building

The destruction of the widespread Hamas tunnel network was considered a major Israeli achievement of the recent war in Gaza, but the Hamas weekly newspaper Al-Risalah reports that Hamas continues digging tunnels from Gaza into Israel.

A reporter for Al-Risalah claims to have visited an “offensive tunnel” – a term referring to an underground conduit planned to be used in an attack against Israel. Hamas has attacked Israel via tunnels of this nature in the past, either by sending armed terrorists into Israel to target Israelis, or – as in the famous case of Gilad Shalit - by capturing a soldier nearby and abducting him into Gaza.

The tunnel purportedly visited by the reporter was destroyed by Israel during the recent war, but is now apparently being restored by Hamas, dozens of meters underground.

Why? Why can't they just get to the peace table and stop this??!!?!?!?!?!??!

:cuckoo:

Their making too much money off the tunnels and the terrorism, they don't want to stop.

How in the heck do they make money off of tunnels? duh. also how are they smuggling in anything now. Openings in Gaza are closed, unless Israel is smuggling them in weapons.

Goods are smuggled in through those tunnels dumb ass. Or are you trying to say these built these tunnels for free? :cuckoo:

The openings to Egypt have been closed, so how in the heck "dumb ass" are they going to smuggle in anything.

I think sewage can kill too. In any case, its not Israeli land and Gazans have every right to dig as deep as they like there.

Israel can, without killing, close off tunnels which are in Israel. Or they could make a just peace to take away the fear and conflict.
The victors (Israel) dictate terms, not the losers (Palestinians).

the Pals have not lost yet, they are still there.
Yes - on a postage stamp -sized parcel or two of disconnected and non-contiguous land, which continues to shrink by the hour.

Surely, that's 'winning' - or, at least, the basis for realistic hope for a win - not.

Your right shrinking by the hour, so you admit the Zionist are thieves .

Unsubstantiated Hasbara BS, nothing worth commenting on.

...Your right shrinking by the hour, so you admit the Zionist are thieves .
Nope.

I admit that the Israelis are (1) shrewd land speculators, (2) highly successful defensive war-makers and (3) skillful war-prize -seizing annexers.

Your side had its chances to stop this - many chances, spread over many decades, and you screwed the pooch.

Welcome to your consequences.

Time for Israel to drill holes close to the border with gaza 100 feet deep and have reservoirs of toxic chemicals that kill human life built topside connected to the holes. So as soon a flow is detected the chemicals would run for 30 seconds making the tunnels unusable. Then disconnect the holes and drop a H.E. device down the hole and explode it collapsing the tunnel and those adjacent to it. Let team Palestine complain about those measures to stop the terrorists attacking Israel

What did you expect?

Bomb people to kill them, they dig down to find protection. Stop trying to kill them in their homes and they would not need to and you would not mind.

And your proof of this is what exactly ?

So what, make sure they are blocked on the Israel side, if they want tunnels underneath , what is it to you, you have a fence around them and you can monitor that. Do what Sisi did , he flooded them the tunnels, he didn't bomb them.

So how de the Israelis get access to the only entrances in gaza without invading and killing another 2,000 to 3,000 terrorists in the process. The tunnels are blind with only one entrance on the gaza side of the border. Much better to just use bunker buster bombs on the gaza side and demolish the buildings on top of the tunnels

I think flooding the tunnels with people in them is murder. Please don't encourage the Israelis to murder Penelope. They need no encouragement.

True, Sisi had sewage flow into them, I guess that wasn't flooding them, so I do take that back.
They might even use them as bomb shelters, since they have no where to run or hide.

Havent you heard what happened in gaza when the women and children hid in one of the tunnels, the brave hamas fighters kicked them out so they would be human shields while they cowered in he tunnels. The Palestinians have plenty of places to hide, they could go out into the farmlands and fields away from the rocket launch sites. Then the terrorists would no longer be protected and would have to fight properly

The real question is how does Israel know? Is this an excuse to monitor and cut down on rebuilding products such as wood and cement.
Guess we can look at the tunnels as bomb shelters, if indeed they are building some.

Only if the evidence is freely available as to their use, if they are hidden and extend into Israel then they are hardly bomb shelters but offensive declarations of war. So it is up to hamas to show every scrap of cement used and any discrepancies to be accounted for within 1 week.

The only way to do that would be to detonate a 20 megaton nuclear device 30 feet down on the border of gaza, just enough to cause a seismic event that would make the ground unstable and collapse any tunnels. That is the only way to when the tunnels are blind with only one entrance. Have you see the devastation a "mine" can wreak on an unsuspecting populace, here is the crater left by one from WW1 when explosives were not as powerful as they are today.

Imagine that under an Israeli school and the devastation and loss of life. Another 100,000 Palestinians would die in the aftermath and only scum would support the Palestinians then.

A just peace has been offered since 1948 but the arab muslims refuse to even meet with Israel unless they leave Palestine. That is all of Palestine including Israel. How can you negotiate with those conditions.

They would need to dig a trench over 500 foot deep along the border with gaza and line it with steel reinforced concrete to shut of the tunnels. So much easier to just flatten the entrances in gaza,

Your right they do. What was I thinking!!

Then do explain how they can do this without finding the only entrance that is in gaza

Very simple they travel to Egypt were they buy a German car for $50,000, this is then brought back to gaza through a tunnel and sold for $150,000. The tunnel owners (hamas) charge $25,000 to use the tunnel and another $25,000 in tax. Not bad for a hole in the ground that was built using free materials stolen from the Palestinian people.
