Students in select areas of the country are heading back to school with the likes of bulletproof backpacks and whiteboards that also work as shields — even though some are calling it overkill.​

Oh cool. Probably bad to get a false sense of security out of having one, but better to have than have not.

Guess that is the world we live in.

Back in the day, way back-----way back when I was in grade school, things were much simpler - we didn't have to learn how to use a slate board as a shield-----a shield to protect ourselves from some weirdo with a gun coming into our classroom and firing off high capacity clip after high capacity clip - we only had to learn how to duck and cover in the event we had a 5 second warning that we were about to get hit by a nuclear bomb.
Ahh yes those were the days-----the days when "you wrote on my slate..."
