GOP wins House seat in Obama's home district

HONOLULU—Republicans scored a midterm election victory Saturday when Honolulu City Councilman Charles Djou won a Democratic-held House seat in Hawaii in the district where President Barack Obama grew up -- the latest triumph for the GOP as it looks to take back control of Congress.

Wow...having lived in Hawaii for 10+ years this must be coming as quite a shock to the locals who are some of the most left leaning Democrats in the country.

Two Democrats split the vote and let the Republican in. Just like in NY 23. The main party in DC insisted on running a scrofulous candidate the local people hated, the locals ran their own candidate, and both of them lost.

This is good news, but not a harbinger of better news. Not unless the R got more than 45% of the vote.

This is great news. Hopefully this is a taste of things to come. 2010 could be a big year for real change. It's time to wave bye bye to the Socialists/Progressives.

I looked, but I didn't see anything about Kenya in the article.

Just some stuff about an election in Hawaii. The internets tubes must be crossed again.

He grew up in several places.

Actually I'm still waiting for him to finish growing up.
