GOP! VOTE FOR ME! We just took away your health care!

Well, you CAN continue to underestimate how very unpopular this bill was but it really won't help come November.
A CNN/ORC poll released yesterday indicates that while the two year old law is growing in popularity, especially among independent voters, half of all Americans still oppose it, although some who disapprove of the measure do so because they think it's not liberal enough. However, only 43% favor overturning the law.

If the law is overturned, it's popularity will soar as Democrats blame SCOTUS and Republicans for taking away your healthcare.

Absolutely.

You people are so disingenuous, WE WILL STILL HAVE HEALTH CARE..

I get it. It took away your "freedoms". Like the "right to die"?

here come the spin folks..

it's the SUPREME COURT who is making the decision, but it is THE REPUBLICANS who will be taking it away..

poor lefties, they love the COURTS when they come down in their favor..

The public is well aware that Republicans have been fighting against healthcare reform for 20 years. The Republican plan for health is clearly to block any attempts to alter the status quo.

Obama. "Vote for me!! I'm so smart that I passed an unconstitutional law in the dead of night without one republican vote!! It went to the Supreme Court and was overturned and laughed at. Did I mention that I call myself a "constitutional scholar and professor?"

Funny how Republican forget the individual mandate was a Republican idea championed by the Heritage foundation.

Don't you think that's funny? Seriously.

If Obama said he was against eating babies, Republicans wouldn't rest until they were on the menu.
You've been dropped on your head a lot Rdean, so I will attempt to keep this simple. The federal government has limited powers by design. These power are enumerated in the Constitution. All other powers are held by the individual states. We are a REPUBLIC of 50 individual states.

He taught constitutional law, and also that the Constitution was a charter of negative liberties.....

Hey, that's how the Left sees our history....

It's not the left that wants to invade our bedrooms.

Making us pay for college girl's rubbers????

If you say so.

So the Dems spent the last 20 years screwing it up so they could get this law in place making it easy for them to infringe on the rest of our freedoms as well.

Seems like an awfully hard sell.

Millions losing their health care because of the party of "Let Him Die"?

We know the individual parts are very popular.

In fact, the other three provisions of the law as tested in the New York Times/CBS News poll were quite positively received -- including the 68% who said they liked the provision that allowed young people to ride on their parents’ health insurance for a longer period of time, and the 85% who liked the provision that health insurance companies cannot turn one away from being insured as a result of pre-existing conditions.

But since Republicans only have "death panels" to replace it with, can they really sell that to the American people?

Patient Cut From Transplant List Dies: Arizona's Death Panel? - CBS News

The patient's worsening condition would have elevated his place on the liver donor list, she added. But the point was moot.

The patient could not afford the transplant and Arizona refused to pay for it. Arizona reduced Medicaid coverage for transplants on Oct. 1 under cuts included to help close a shortfall in the state budget enacted last spring.

Oh.....dumb-ass......nobody has gotten any health care coverage from the bill.

It was just a scam to take away our freedoms.

We found that out when they lowered the boom on the Georgetown Unv. and removed two college funding programs with the Affordable Health Care Act.

Also, it turns out the Affordable Health Care Act wasn't even affordable.

Everything is up to the Health And Human Services Sec. discretion.

I get it. It took away your "freedoms". Like the "right to die"?

You know how I know you're a fucking moron?

EVERYONE DIES, DIPSHIT. No right to do so required.

The nearly 50 million Americans who have no health insurance coverage might well disagree with you on that point.

Considering that the option is available, your point doesn't hold much more than appeal to statistical emotion. Which isn't much.

Go get insurance then and cut down on expenditures in other areas.

You don't pay for shit. We all know you live out of the sleeping bag on the living room floor of your mom's double wide. Don't be ashamed. What Republicans have done to the economy has hurt a lot of people. Be proud that you still have Internet access.

really, well now who's fault is they don't have health insurance? I guess those, which is it, 30 million, because now you just raised it to 50 million people will have to do like the other 300 MILLION people in this country does...go buy and pay for their own insurance..damn what a weird concept

Perhaps Obama should have stuck with his dislike of the individual mandate and focused instead on the "parts that are very popular."

"A mandate means that in some fashion, everybody will be forced to buy health insurance. ... But I believe the problem is not that folks are trying to avoid getting health care. The problem is they can't afford it. And that's why my plan emphasises lowering costs." -Barack Obama

He also said that you could no more solve the issue of the uninsured with an individual mandate than you could cure homelessness by ordering people to buy a home.

Fuck, his campaign even put together an ad attacking the individual mandate.

I understand where he was coming from. He knows America needs health care because medical bills are the number one reason for bankruptcy. He thought that buying in to a Republican idea from the Heritage Foundation they would get on board. But Obama doesn't or didn't understand the depth of the hatred the right wing feels towards him and for a number of reasons.

First, being black, he's faced racism. He's talked about how hard it is to get a cab. Things whites take for granted. The racism he experienced in Hawaii and Chicago and the East Coast is small potato's compared to what comes out of the Republican Party. He simply hasn't taken their hatred seriously enough, until now. I think he's finally understanding this is a party that's 90% white and based in the deep south. You can get a first class look with the current Zimmerman/Martin debacle. Look at what right wingers on this very board are saying about that kid. Even with all the evidence.

If the mandate was not included, the insurance companies would have to jack up prices in order to cover more sick people due to the elimination of preexisting conditions restriction and elimination of life time maximum benefits. If the mandate goes, these parts of the law must go.
