GOP! VOTE FOR ME! We just took away your health care!

Seems like an awfully hard sell.

Millions losing their health care because of the party of "Let Him Die"?

We know the individual parts are very popular.

In fact, the other three provisions of the law as tested in the New York Times/CBS News poll were quite positively received -- including the 68% who said they liked the provision that allowed young people to ride on their parents’ health insurance for a longer period of time, and the 85% who liked the provision that health insurance companies cannot turn one away from being insured as a result of pre-existing conditions.

But since Republicans only have "death panels" to replace it with, can they really sell that to the American people?

Patient Cut From Transplant List Dies: Arizona's Death Panel? - CBS News

The patient's worsening condition would have elevated his place on the liver donor list, she added. But the point was moot.

The patient could not afford the transplant and Arizona refused to pay for it. Arizona reduced Medicaid coverage for transplants on Oct. 1 under cuts included to help close a shortfall in the state budget enacted last spring.

here come the spin folks..

it's the SUPREME COURT who is making the decision, but it is THE REPUBLICANS who will be taking it away..

The public is well aware that Republicans have been fighting against healthcare reform for 20 years. The Republican plan for health is clearly to block any attempts to alter the status quo.
The very meaning of conservative ... no change.

Perhaps Obama should have stuck with his dislike of the individual mandate and focused instead on the "parts that are very popular."

"A mandate means that in some fashion, everybody will be forced to buy health insurance. ... But I believe the problem is not that folks are trying to avoid getting health care. The problem is they can't afford it. And that's why my plan emphasises lowering costs." -Barack Obama

He also said that you could no more solve the issue of the uninsured with an individual mandate than you could cure homelessness by ordering people to buy a home.

Fuck, his campaign even put together an ad attacking the individual mandate.
If the mandate was not included, the insurance companies would have to jack up prices in order to cover more sick people due to the elimination of preexisting conditions restriction and elimination of life time maximum benefits. If the mandate goes, these parts of the law must go.

Health care and health insurance are not the same thing.

It's not the left that wants to invade our bedrooms.

Making us pay for college girl's rubbers????

If you say so.

You don't pay for shit. We all know you live out of the sleeping bag on the living room floor of your mom's double wide. Don't be ashamed. What Republicans have done to the economy has hurt a lot of people. Be proud that you still have Internet access.

Yeah, the GOP hasn't been in power since Jan 07'. It takes at least 5 years for anything to happen in government.

It must be their fault.

No healthcare?
Tough fucking shit.
Pisspoor planning on YOUR part, does not constitute an emergency on MY part.

Thanks

When the GOP starts shutting down hospitals you might have a point.

Until then....you're full of crap as usual.

Do democrats really believe that if we just had obamacare no one would ever die?

Then "we" should have made them severable.

the 85% who liked the provision that health insurance companies cannot turn one away from being insured as a result of pre-existing conditions.

Are idiots. Sorry to be harsh - but anyone who thinks this is a rational expectation of insurance has a fundamental misunderstanding about what insurance is and how it works. That misunderstanding is really at the core of most of our problems regarding health care. We're trying to pretend insurance is something it isn't.

Considering that the option is available, your point doesn't hold much more than appeal to statistical emotion. Which isn't much.

Go get insurance then and cut down on expenditures in other areas.
Many low-income families are in insurance high-risk categories and they simply cannot afford insurance no matter how much they cut expenses. For a low-income family with health problems, buying a lower cost high deductible policy is no answer because the premiums, deductible, coinsurance, and exclusions will easily bankrupt the family.

Medicaid is no help till the family income falls below $22,000 for a family of 4, much lower in some states. If you’re a low-income earner without insurance with a serious health problem, you’re very unlikely to get the treatments you need to survive until you’re income is low enough to qualify for Medicaid. It is not uncommon for low-income earners to stop working or reduce their hours in order to get Medicaid and thus the medical car they need to survive.

Adding millions to Medicaid and providing subsidies to lower-income earners to buy insurance is a major cost, however there are major cost offsets.

The OP shows just how votes are bought. You give people things they can't afford but even still it's impossible to take it away despite the fact it was never affordable in the first place.

Both parties do it.

You people are so disingenuous, WE WILL STILL HAVE HEALTH CARE..
We?
The nearly 50 million Americans who have no health insurance coverage might well disagree with you on that point.

really, well now who's fault is they don't have health insurance? I guess those, which is it, 30 million, because now you just raised it to 50 million people will have to do like the other 300 MILLION people in this country does...go buy and pay for their own insurance..damn what a weird concept
And what if you suffer from a serious congenital heart defect, or cancer, or a thousand other disease requiring extensive medical treatments that make you uninsurable The family breadwinner loses his job and insurance and the wife is diagnosed with cancer. Millions of people are in these and similar situations. They are there not because they are irresponsible but rather events occurred totally beyond their control.

Even Wubbya understood that insurance companies liked to not insure - that bottom line profits were of a higher concern that helping humans.

Look at Michelle's law for evidence. - "On October 8, 2008, President George W. Bush signed H.R. 2851, making Michelle’s Law a federal law effective October 9, 2009. "

"A Brief History of Michelle’s Law.
NH House Bill 37, also known as “Michelle’s Law,” came about when AnnMarie Morse’s daughter Michelle, a full time student at Plymouth State University, was diagnosed with colon cancer. Knowing the toll chemotherapy treatments would take, Michelle’s doctors strongly recommended that she cut back her college course load.
That’s when the Morse family discovered that they were caught in a terrible catch-22. If Michelle cut back, as her doctors recommended, she would either lose her insurance or would have to pay C.O.B.R.A. The premiums for C.O.B.R.A. were approximately $550 a month (not including copays), would be more than the family could afford. "

Yea I sure trust the private sector way more to help me in bad times than the government.

And remember "ObamaCare" made it so your kids could be covered under your insurance until they are 26 - no strings.

If the mandate is struck down, then either the court or congress must allow insurers to exclude subscribes with preexisting conditions and allow insurance companies to limit their liabilities, i.e. reinstate limits on maximum benefits. Considering that these items are the most popular parts of law, it would be difficult for Congress to exclude them. To repeal and replace the law, the GOP would have to control both houses of Congress and the presidency which is not likely. If the mandate is struck down, then the court needs to remove the preexisting conditions clause and the unlimited liability. Left to congress it would never happen and rates would skyrocket.
