The White House is trying to lift sanctions on ONE Russian Oligarch. OV Deripaska...the guy that Manafort gave polling data to and the guy he owed millions to and hoped his position in the Trump Campaign would "make him whole".

SO much for Trump being "tough on Russia" huh?

And oh gee...the GOP Senate...filibustered keeping those sanctions in place.

Know who supported that filibuster?

Romney, Graham, McConnell... among a bunch of other GOP toadies

HUH?

Why would we want to ease sanctions on this guy?

Wow, the government is really fucked up. Its shutdown and locked down. Nothing will happen for the next two years.

Sergey Lavrov: Sanctions are illegal and undermine every principle of global trade and the principles upheld by UN resolutions, according to which unilateral measures of economic coercion are illegitimate.

I’m confident that such a gross abuse of the role of the US dollar as a world reserve currency will undermine that role. To be on the safe side, more and more countries, even the ones that are not affected by US sanctions, will gradually stop using the dollar and rely on more dependable partners with whom they can agree on using their currency.

You quote a Russian OLIGARCH in your defense here?

How much do they pay you?

Who is behind Russian sanctions?

Those who want to steal the country from Russians and give it to thieves and oligarchs back.

So WHY is Trump and the GOP doing this again??

Senate rejects effort to block Trump on Russia sanctions

The Senate on Wednesday narrowly rejected a Democratic-led effort to block President Trump from lifting sanctions against three Russian businesses.

Senators voted 57-42 to end debate on the resolution, falling short of the 60 votes needed. If all Democrats supported the measure, they needed to win over 13 GOP senators.

GOP Sens. John Boozman (Ark.), Susan Collins (Maine), Tom Cotton (Ark.), Steve Daines (Mont.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), Josh Hawley (Mo.), John Kennedy (La.), Martha McSally (Ariz.), Jerry Moran (Kan.), Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Ben Sasse (Neb.) voted to end debate on the resolution and advance it to a final vote.

The Trump administration announced plans late last month to relax sanctions on the three businesses — Rusal, EN+ and EuroSibEnergo — connected to Oleg Deripaska, an oligarch with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Senate rejects effort to block Trump on Russia sanctions

Tuesday's 57-42 vote still left Democrats a few votes shy of being able to defeat the expected filibuster. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer(D-N.Y.) urged Republicans to support the resolution to block the sanctions from being lifted if they believe that Putin is a "thug."

"I'd like to make a direct appeal to my Republican friends who are wondering about this. … Do you believe America should take a tough line on Putin or do you think we should go easy on Putin and his cronies? From where I'm standing that's an easy choice," Schumer said.

The vote in the Senate means that the Trump administration will be able to lift the Russia sanctions.
