The terrorists were testing the security - on the last attack before the final one on 9/11/12 the terrorists blew a hole in the compound wall. Stephens reported the compound was indefensible without more security...the request was denied.
** At this point, knowing the main attack was approximately 1 week away 1) No additional Security was provided. (The state Department later said they could not afford more security and attempted to blame leaving Americans in Benghazi to die without additional security on GOP budget cuts) & 2) The order to get out of Benghazi was never given. (Snowflakes like to claim they could have left. These Americans worked for the State Dept - they were Hillary's responsibility - it was her call to make. She didn't do so. I would say that is a significant 'Lesson Learned)

The Security the Americans had in Benghazi was THIS:
