Rating dictate advertising. Not the other way around. So Walmart takes a stand, maybe Target will jump right in to take that business! I truly think Color of Change's (lead by a self-proclaimed socialist) campaign is going to backfire and provide a huge jolt to Beck's ratings. I personally don't watch or particularly like Beck, but I am more inclined to watch him because of this bullshit leftist squeeze on the first amendment. Left support the 1st amendment for their message, when its not their message, they shoot it down!

You know I personally don't like what I am hearing from the right-wing pundits on Fox or the radio when it comes to healthcare. I think they are using propaganda, but I don't want to silence them. Because in America we have the 1st amendment!

President Obama insult by Glenn Beck has advertisers boycotting show
Retailing giant Wal-Mart and seven other companies pulled their ads from his show, organizers said.

Among those bailing on Beck: GMAC Financial Services, Best Buy, CVS and Travelocity.

A total of 20 companies have pulled their ads in the last two weeks, Color of Change says, including Geico, ConAgra, RadioShack, Men's Wearhouse, State Farm, Sargento and Procter & Gamble.

Judging from Monday night's broadcast, there were plenty of companies eager to fill the ad slots, including The Wall Street Journal, DirecTV, Honda and Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen Channel.

Did the thought ever occur to you that these companies are making decisions based on their own values, public image and mission statements? And THEY just exercising THEIR rights?

No one is immune to the advertising in this country except perhaps the folks at Gitmo.

It's because Beck has been acting like a complete nutjob and they don't want to support his show anymore. Simple as that.

Whats going to backfire is the rights attempt to squash everything Obama and the Dems do. And so is this attempt at fear mongering and painting Obama as something he is not. Look at the last election and you will see its futility. Palin/McCain went on a smear and fear campaign and Obama talked issues and what happened? THE REPUBLICANS GOT SLAUGHTERED!! out of office and out of a majority now it is a power struggle to get control back but instead of coming up with genuine ideas to compete with the dems its more of the same....fear...smear and be the party of no!

While the first amendment gives us the right to say almost anything we want, our words are not completly devoid of consequences. An example would be the Dixie Chicks making political statements about Bush and the ensuing backlash from their fans, which I would assume a large portion of their base were Bush supports.

This is hardly a leftest squeeze on the first amendment that is trying to silence republicans. If talking heads start making the idiotic claims such as those Beck as been doing of late, then its a companies right and a responsible business approach to distance themselves and express their disagreement with the stupidity Beck has been spewing.

So far the polll shows 51% against the boycott 48% for, with the remaining % not sure.

No doubt I think they are making these moves for their own value and public image (mission statement, don't make me laugh)! I am not as concerned with the companies. Rather I am concerned with a leftist organization once again trying to trample on other American's free speech rights!

Where were these leftist organization when media personalities were bashing Bush with falsehoods! Recall after the piss poor handling of Katrina, Bush was a called a racist by media personalities including that stroke on MSNBC and by Bill Maher! Yet there was no boycott calls there was no attacking of stations advertisers.

There is a big difference here!

Its just like the Islamofacist organization CAIR trying to quell Michael Savage's free speech/press rights, but then hide behind their own hate speech using the 1st amendment!

who is squeezing whom? Who, EXACTLY, is goose-marching into the offices of [insert pulled ad revenue] and FORCING them to stop sponsoring Glen Beck? Seems to me that this is nothing more than the MARKET IN ACTION, eh goofnut? Think of Beck's quotes as the one or two poisoned babyfood jars that redirect consumers away from a contaminated product. The gov is not throwing down a ban on Beck. No liberal group is FORCING anyone to do anything. Hell, snarky fucking "brought to you by walmart" videos are no different than your joker-faced Obama shots. Sounds to me like you are just a giant pussy who wants to cry about the very system that you'd scream over were it ever replaced... while you don't enjoy being dominant, that is. Lord fucking knows how loudly you'd be calling for boycotts if Olberman called for barely disguised semi-violence against Bush.

I agree and that is why I choose not to listen to him! But there is a level of hypocrisy here that you have to recognize at least that!

When Mall-Wart dumps you your career is just a step away from the sewer!.....free country and they have exercised their right as a biz to wash the taste of Beck from their mouths.

There's a BIG disconnect here...these companies that made THEIR decision to pull THEIR ads did so on THEIR own accord...it has NOTHING to do with leftists or the media...it has to do with THEIR right to spend THEIR advertising money as THEY see fit...

You don't like it...TOO bad, don't buy their products...

BTW, all successful companies have a mission statement...and there is no such thing as Islamofascism... it is a made up term to scare you right wing pea brains...

I haven't watched Glen Beck in ages, but if Walmart is pulling their ads, I'm all for him... heck, I may start watching him now. DOWN WITH WALMART!!!

Obama has done some fear mongering himself.

-- During Obama's Feb. 18 address on the mortgage crisis, he said that we were in a crisis 24 times, Frequently describing in apocalyptic terms that the crisis would drag down the entire economy.

--During Obama's first and only national press conference he talked about us being in a crisis 12 timesand noted that it was an "unprecedented crisis" -- something sure to instill confidence.

-- In his first radio address to the nation on Jan. 24, Obama claimed, "We begin this year and this Administration in the midst of an unprecedented crisis that calls for unprecedented action."

-- It is even harder to make sense of Lawrence Summers' recent statement, because of these grossly exaggerated claims he made on stage with Obama in November -- saying again"we've had an unprecedented crisis."

-- On Nov. 16, Obama said: "We've got an unprecedented crisis, or at least something that we have not seen since the Great Depression."

It isn't just these statements. In each of the three presidential debates last September and October, Obama claimed that we were in the "worst financial crisis since the Great Depression." It was a constant theme of his campaign and he has made it again and again since the election.

In fact, since the election, he went from claiming that it is the worst crisis since the Great Depression to very frequently claim that it is the worst crisis ever. Before the election he claimed that it was the "worst financial crisis" and now he usually says that it is simply an "unprecedented crisis" -- implying that there has been no worst crisis of any type.

"Never allow a crisis to go to waste," White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel told the New York Times right after the election. "They are opportunities to do big things." Over the weekend, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told an audience at the European Parliament, "Never waste a good crisis." Then President Obama explained in his Saturday radio and Internet address that there is "great opportunity in the midst of" the "great crisis" befalling America.

I personally boycott everything GE and know I'm not alone. GE sucks and so does everyone they sponsor from the top down. GE sucks.

Dont really care. There will always be advertisers because Glenn articulates a point that attracts alot of people.

You see people like freedom. Americans like the Constitution. You may think we are all nutjobs for believing in these things, and that's your right. but you arent going to convince people you are right simply with name calling.

There is no equivilence between Beck's message and Freedom or the Constitution. This is why it's funny to see your side melt down when advert pull their funding since it's a direct product of your glorious free market system. Hey, you know who else represents a message that appeals to fringe audience? The Klan. And Fred Phelps. Enjoy your niche market and laughable ads like Lifelock and Gold Coins.
