Glenn Beck being boycotted! Its bound to backfire!

Whats going to backfire is the rights attempt to squash everything Obama and the Dems do. And so is this attempt at fear mongering and painting Obama as something he is not. Look at the last election and you will see its futility. Palin/McCain went on a smear and fear campaign and Obama talked issues and what happened? THE REPUBLICANS GOT SLAUGHTERED!! out of office and out of a majority now it is a power struggle to get control back but instead of coming up with genuine ideas to compete with the dems its more of the same....fear...smear and be the party of no!

Obama has done some fear mongering himself.

-- During Obama's Feb. 18 address on the mortgage crisis, he said that we were in a crisis 24 times, Frequently describing in apocalyptic terms that the crisis would drag down the entire economy.

--During Obama's first and only national press conference he talked about us being in a crisis 12 timesand noted that it was an "unprecedented crisis" -- something sure to instill confidence.

-- In his first radio address to the nation on Jan. 24, Obama claimed, "We begin this year and this Administration in the midst of an unprecedented crisis that calls for unprecedented action."

-- It is even harder to make sense of Lawrence Summers' recent statement, because of these grossly exaggerated claims he made on stage with Obama in November -- saying again"we've had an unprecedented crisis."

-- On Nov. 16, Obama said: "We've got an unprecedented crisis, or at least something that we have not seen since the Great Depression."

It isn't just these statements. In each of the three presidential debates last September and October, Obama claimed that we were in the "worst financial crisis since the Great Depression." It was a constant theme of his campaign and he has made it again and again since the election.

In fact, since the election, he went from claiming that it is the worst crisis since the Great Depression to very frequently claim that it is the worst crisis ever. Before the election he claimed that it was the "worst financial crisis" and now he usually says that it is simply an "unprecedented crisis" -- implying that there has been no worst crisis of any type.

"Never allow a crisis to go to waste," White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel told the New York Times right after the election. "They are opportunities to do big things." Over the weekend, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told an audience at the European Parliament, "Never waste a good crisis." Then President Obama explained in his Saturday radio and Internet address that there is "great opportunity in the midst of" the "great crisis" befalling America.

Was he supposed to say that the economy was all rosy flowers, unicorns, magical dancing fairies, and all was well?

The truth is that the credit crisis, consumer confidence being shit, real estate values droping substancially, high unemployment, etc it is undeniable that we have faced and are still facing poor economic conditions and at one point the possibility of Great Depression like conditions were possible. I say its fair to say that this has been the worst economic downturn for a generation.

So Obama is supposed to be honest with the people. Yet Glenn is supposed to lie and say everything is great? You guys make no sense.

err... he cant rationaly say shit like "this president I think he has exposed himself as a guy over and over and over again who has a deep seated hatred for white people or the white culture." I mean... really. I guess Obama hates his mother.

Rating dictate advertising. Not the other way around. So Walmart takes a stand, maybe Target will jump right in to take that business! I truly think Color of Change's (lead by a self-proclaimed socialist) campaign is going to backfire and provide a huge jolt to Beck's ratings. I personally don't watch or particularly like Beck, but I am more inclined to watch him because of this bullshit leftist squeeze on the first amendment. Left support the 1st amendment for their message, when its not their message, they shoot it down!

You know I personally don't like what I am hearing from the right-wing pundits on Fox or the radio when it comes to healthcare. I think they are using propaganda, but I don't want to silence them. Because in America we have the 1st amendment!

President Obama insult by Glenn Beck has advertisers boycotting show
Retailing giant Wal-Mart and seven other companies pulled their ads from his show, organizers said.

Among those bailing on Beck: GMAC Financial Services, Best Buy, CVS and Travelocity.

A total of 20 companies have pulled their ads in the last two weeks, Color of Change says, including Geico, ConAgra, RadioShack, Men's Wearhouse, State Farm, Sargento and Procter & Gamble.

Judging from Monday night's broadcast, there were plenty of companies eager to fill the ad slots, including The Wall Street Journal, DirecTV, Honda and Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen Channel.

I'm surprised the WSJ isn't already a sponsor. They certainly should know that's their audience. As for Oxygen, what a loser channel that is. I'm shocked Oprah owns it and hasn't brought it out of the dark ages where programming is looped after 8PM. The only thing Oxygen has going for it is "Dance Your Ass Off" which is either funny or sad, depending on your outlook.

There is no equivilence between Beck's message and Freedom or the Constitution. This is why it's funny to see your side melt down when advert pull their funding since it's a direct product of your glorious free market system. Hey, you know who else represents a message that appeals to fringe audience? The Klan. And Fred Phelps. Enjoy your niche market and laughable ads like Lifelock and Gold Coins.

what does olbernotaman ass taste like libtard?

Ironically, your cited article gives credence to the way the Obama administration (and Bush before with the bank loans--bailouts if you must) has handled the situation. The key was not allowing the financial institutions to go under. From the article:

Worst of all, in the early 1930s the Federal Reserve just sat there doing nothing while thousands of banks failed. And once that happened, the Fed tightened the money supply. From the peak in 1929, the Fed reduced the money supply by 28% over four years. You really couldn't come up with a more effective way to strangle an economy.

Today's Fed is doing precisely the opposite. After a series of bungled interventions earlier this year in which several banks and brokers not only failed, but in my opinion were forced into failure by speculation and regulatory mismanagement, the Fed and the Treasury are now dedicated to propping up the banking system at any cost.

Of course everything isn't "great," but Beck's MO is to instill fear of a new brand of Nazism. He's gone way over the top. Just do a search on YouTube for the number of shows where he dedicates an entire half hour discussing the rise of eugenics. All proposterous comparisons and insane rantings of a madman. Personally, I think Glenn Beck suffers from wet brain as a result of chronic alcoholism and he should be pitied.

Did the thought ever occur to you that these companies are making decisions based on their own values, public image and mission statements? And THEY just exercising THEIR rights?

It's because Beck has been acting like a complete nutjob and they don't want to support his show anymore. Simple as that.

I agree and that is why I choose not to listen to him! But there is a level of hypocrisy here that you have to recognize at least that!

Hypocracy on the part of who?

And please don't say "the left". "The left" is not a person, nor a single entity.

What part of "Congress shall make no law" escapes some of you?

The 1st Amendment applies ONLY to government action. Let me repeat that: ONLY the government is affected by the 1st Amendment. If they put Beck in handcuffs for engaging in protected speech, much as I hate the guy's message I'll be in the trenches handing out the pitchforks myself. But private businesses can make business decisions as they see fit. That's the "free" part of "free market".

ROFL... Becks got the highest Cable News Ratings in his time-slot... So if he's being boycotted, who ever is doing it, is doing it WRONG... or they're irrelevant.

I advertise my business on the station which airs Beck and my ad rep said that I couldn't get an ad in Becks slot for 4 months... what's more, the local mix for Beck's television show on Fox is locked out... which means the card is blocked solid for six months of greater.

Then, no problem. You have a win/win situation.

Anybody?

Lets hope so. Fox is all about money. If enough sponsors leave, they will drop him, ratings or not.

Olberman is obsessed with Glenn. Sometimes I think he just wants to get Glenns attention so people will remember he exists.

Isn't it stupid to support someone you don't like, or necessarily like, because someone else you don't like even more is doing something to them you don't think is right?
