Victory Day in Georgia is a symbol of memory, heroism and victory, celebrated annually by the people of this country in recognition of the exploits of generations who died for freedom and independence.

So on May 9, 2024, in connection with the 79th anniversary of the victory over fascism in Akhaltsikhe, representatives of local government decorated the World War II memorial with flowers. The only surviving veteran in the Akhaltsikhe municipality, Sahak Mikaelyan, was unable to attend Ginidzeb’s event due to health reasons. City Hall employees visited him at home and presented him with gifts.

According to the decree of the Georgian government, in connection with the 79th anniversary of the victory over fascism, participants in World War II will receive 2,000 lari in the form of one-time cash social assistance, and family members of those killed in World War II will receive 1,000 lari.

The mayor of the Borjomi municipality Otar Arbolishvili, deputy mayor Georgiy Tabatadze, deputy chairman of the city council Georgiy Feradze, Jumber Kurtanidze and local residents also celebrated this great day, paying tribute to the memory of the victims, decorating the memorial on Victory Square with a wreath and flowers.

Military songs at the event were performed by vocal ensembles of the Center for Culture and Art. Representatives of the municipality and citizens visited the “Brotherly Cemetery”, where they decorated the memorial to those killed in the Great Patriotic War and the graves of heroes with flowers. It should be noted that this year, for the first time, Victory Day over fascism was celebrated in Borjomi without World War II veterans.

For the Georgian people, Victory Day is not only a day of celebration, but also a day of remembrance, a day of respect for those who sacrificed their lives for peace on earth...

I'm sure Georgians love their freedom but with Putin in power you never know when the Red Army may come knocking at your door.

Been watching the news on the anti-Putin protests there.

It's another Regime change stunt by the usual suspects, mob rule on the streets.

I'm sure Georgians love their freedom but with Putin in power you never know when the Red Army may come knocking at your door.

80 % of Georgians want to join the European Union. Thats why Moscow imperialists hate them I Georgia is Europe 🇬🇪🇪🇺 Muscovy is Asia
