Gene Simmons is the man

Israel - The One And The Only Free Democratic Country In The Entire Middle East.
I believe that any nation that grants equal opportunity to every citizen, regardless of race, religion, political affiliation, or gender, thereby, establishes its moral legitimacy. According to this principle, Israel stands alone in the Middle East region, as a nation with moral legitimacy: it grants all citizens equal rights for men and women alike, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech and of the press. Not a single Arab or Muslim country in the surrounding region does the same. Nor do any of those Arab and Muslim nations allow their citizens personal freedom, or the right to maintain and express opposing points of view.

These essential qualities of life provide oxygen for the human soul; they are the kind of basic nourishment that is desperately missing in all of Israel's Muslim neighbors. Yet, the so-called humanitarian aid organizations at the United Nations direct all their energy to act against anything and everything Israel does. Let me ask: as every human being deserves to live in dignity, why has an enormous unbalanced portion of global aid gone mostly to Palestinians, while millions of underprivileged people all over the world suffer genuine, life-threatening deprivation? Here is why: The United Nations time and again focuses its power on the perpetual manufacturing of false anti-Israel accusations. Painting Palestinians as perennial underdogs provides the perfect cover for their subversive effort. Without doubt, this trend encourages hatred and violence against the Jewish people in Israel and everywhere else. And that is exactly its point.

A Palestinian women's organization reported that Muslim men perpetrate some 40 honor killings annually in the West Bank alone, not including the vast majority of honor killing and abuse of women that go unreported -- as Islamic society maintains secrecy in upholding the popular belief that those "cursed with a sin, [should] hide it."

According to recent face-to-face surveys by prominent international pollsters, more Palestinians in East Jerusalem would prefer to be citizens of Israel than citizens of a new Palestinian state -- and 40% would probably or definitely move to avoid Palestinian rule.

Those who love liberty and life will strengthen their ties and warm relations with Israel, and stand with her. Israel will continue to shine its light among all nations.

The Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson’s Unit released a video showing an Air Force strike of a Hamas weapons storage site in northern Gaza, saying this provides further evidence Hamas uses Palestinian civilians as human shields:

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) confirmed direct hits on Hamas terrorist facilities which were embedded deep into the Gazan population. Despite Hamas’ tactics of using its own Palestinian population centers as a human shield, the IAF does its best to solely target armed terrorists and avoid any civilian casualties.

I hate the "indefensible borders" meme. I understand where they are coming from The From the Golan you can, on a CAVU day, see all the way to the gulf of Elat. The army on those hills, artillery positions on those hills can rain death down on either side for immense distances.

Given the realities in 1967, a country 9 miles wide is too narrow. 48% of the US population does a commute of 10 miles or more, each way.

That said, in 1967 itsy bitsy teeny weenie Israel without the Golan, only 9 miles wide, did a curb stomp battle that crushed three of its five neighbors in six days. If they are indefensible, they should also be impossible to start an empire from.

The 67 borders are not going to happen. Within those borders Israel does not feel safe. The only real discussion is what borders relatively close to the 67 borders would be best for the peace. 62 years of arab intransigence has not had a positive result. They need to try a different tack.

Egypt got the lesson in 1977. The Israeli response to peace overtures by Israel was "you leave us alone and keep the peace, you can have your 1967 border." Syria can forget about that. The Palestinian areas east of Jerusalem can have all the peace they want and a pretty flexible border. It is very much up to them.

Israel And britain Collaborate On Cures For Major Diseases
A delegation of 60 British top academics are visiting Israel this week to launch a groundbreaking programme to promote collaboration between the two countries in regenerative medicine as part of the Britain-Israel Research and Academic Exchange Partnership (BIRAX)

BIRAX was originally designed by the British Council in Israel in 2008 in collaboration with Pears Foundation and academic leaders from both countries. It was launched by the British and Israeli prime ministers with the aim of enhancing research and academic cooperation, creating new institutional links for the future and strengthening academic links between universities in the UK and Israel.

Over 250 people will participate in the first UK-Israel Regenerative Medicine Conference at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev on 22-23 November, with millions of people who have suffered major trauma, heart disease and Parkinson’s disease standing to benefit from this first-ever gathering of specialists.

Regenerative Medicine aims to restore the function of tissues and organs using a variety of approaches including cell therapy, tissue engineering, gene therapy and biomedical engineering. Both Israel and the UK are recognised as world leaders in this cutting-edge area of medicine.

Matthew Gould, British Ambassador to Israel, said: “Britain and Israel are natural partners in regenerative medicine. The UK is a world leader in science – we have four of the world’s top ten universities – and Israe lis a scientific powerhouse. We can achieve much more together than we can apart. My hope is that this conference leads to a surge of collaborations between British and Israeli scientists, with the UK-Israel Regenerative Medicine programme stimulating ground-breaking research projects.”

Trevor Pears, Executive Chair of Pears Foundation said: “We are delighted to see our partnership with the British Council and the British Government continue to deepen academic cooperation and research between Britain and Israel. We hope that these links will continue to grow and flourish for the benefit of Britain, Israel and the world.”

Israeli Research Gives Hope For Spinal Cord Injuries
What's the most catastrophic illness that can befall us? To me, it's a spinal cord injury (SCI) that results in total paralysis. During a recent visit to Israel, I interviewed Dr. Shimon Rochkind, world-renowned neurosurgeon at the Tel Aviv University Sourasky Medical Center, an expert on SCI.

Every year 12,000 North Americans sustain spinal cord injury. The people involved are usually under the age of 30 and 80% are males. Some, like Christopher Reeves of Superman fame, fall from horses. Others dive into shallow water or are involved in car accidents.

Dr. Rochkind has spent his life trying to accomplish what's said to be impossible. Time and time again we've been told that some tissues of the body can regenerate, but never the spinal cord. Christopher Reeves received the best treatment money could buy, but he never walked again. What I witnessed in Rochkind's laboratory shows that what we've accepted as gospel for centuries is no longer true.

Rochkind first showed me motion pictures of a rat running around his cage. Later, he surgically removed half a centimetre (a quarter of an inch) of the rat's spinal cord which resulted in complete paralysis of the hind legs. Normally without a complete spinal cord, the rat would never walk again.

But motion photos taken several weeks later revealed that the rat was now moving his legs. It was not doing so as perfectly as before, but good enough to get around his cage quickly.

So what had Dr. Rochkind done to partially reverse the paralysis? He had to overcome several problems. First, he had to bridge the gap between the severed nerve, and then nourish the nerve and stimulate its growth. Finally, he had to encourage the first step as one does with an infant.

The first solution was to develop what Rochkind calls a "genetically-engineered implant," thousands of times more difficult than designing a hip replacement. This meant experimenting with several different types of tissue. One implant involved human spinal cord cells. But a major advance was his eventual discovery that it was possible to use cells taken from the lining of the adult human nose.

What tissue will be used in the final implant is unknown, but at the moment it's composed of a highly complex assortment of hyaluronic acid, neuronal growth factor, antioxidants such as vitamin C and other ingredients. This mass of material is encompassed in a soft biodegradable tube placed between the severed nerve endings, acting as a scaffold for the implant.

Had he lived, could Christopher Reeve have walked again? Rochkind is convinced that the possibility will happen within his lifetime. It may not be a perfect walk, but patients with these injuries will not be immobilized for the rest of their lives.

Not all nerve injuries, however, are spinal cord ones. For instance, some involve the peripheral nerves of the arm or legs. It's these types of injuries that cripple thousands of soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and other war sites.

Rochkind's laboratory is making great advances with these injuries. The big problem has always been the rapid loss of muscle mass once a nerve is injured. After all, what's the use of regenerating the nerve if there's no muscle tissue left to function?

For these peripheral injuries, Rochkind is using laser phototherapy, which provides an immediate protective effect. This therapy not only helps to prevent muscle loss, but also helps to regenerate nerves and aids in restoring muscle mass. Laser therapy is given two hours a day for 21 days. The sooner it is started, the better the results.

Researchers in Israel are also trying to use stem cells to produce dopamine, the substance lacking in patients suffering from Parkinson's Disease.

I left Israel impressed and amazed at how this tiny country with no natural resources, fighting for its very existence since 1948, could accomplish so much in research. As they say, it's not the size of the dog that wins the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. And I'd predict that Dr. Rochkind's innovative work is headed for a Nobel Prize in medicine.

Martin Luther King, Jr.
I see Israel as one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security and that security must be a reality.

I solemnly pledge to do my utmost to uphold the fair name of the Jews -- because bigotry in any form is an affront to us all.

Arabs Are Miserable  :clap2:

"The Misery of Arabs/Apple R&D In Israel"
Apple will open a research and development center in Israel that will focus on semiconductors

The R&D center in Herzliya, Israel’s version of Silicon Valley, would be Apple’s first outside California

Earlier this week, Israeli media reported Apple was in advanced talks to buy Anobit, an Israeli maker of flash storage technology, for $400-$500 million

It is so sad and frustrating to see APPLE investing in Israel, while we as Arabs are not able to attract these investments to our countries! I don’t know what our leaders are doing to create proper environment for such investments!

I would prefer seeing APPLE as well as MICROSOFT having their R&D in Lebanon or any other Arab Country instead of being in ISRAEL!

WISH THE ARAB LEADERS WILL WAKE UP AND CARE FOR DEVELOPING THEIR COUNTRIES AND SOCIETIES INSTEAD OF APPLYING DICTATORSHIP AND KILL THEIR PEOPLE!
