Gas Prices More Than Double Under Obama: $1.84 To $3.85...

Why post this? Is there really anyone who is SO stupid that they don't know the president (R or D) has no control or influence over gas prices?

The right wing nutz sure think Obama is a supreme power if he is responsible for all that is wrong with the USA in only 3 years.

Energy production means jobs 100s of Billions of dollars to the Treasury and a growing economy, it's not only gas prices, it's everything that goes into producing our own energy...Get a clue people:eusa_eh:

Double your salary in the middle of nowhere, North Dakota

Believe it or not, a place exists where companies are hiring like crazy, and you can make $15 an hour serving tacos, $25 an hour waiting tables and $80,000 a year driving trucks.

You just have to move to North Dakota. Specifically, to one of the tiny towns surrounding the oil-rich Bakken formation, estimated to hold anywhere between 4 billion and 24 billion barrels of oil.

Oil companies have only recently discovered ways to tap this reserve. And along with the manpower needed to extract the oil, the town is now scrambling to find workers to support the new rush of labor

Democraps have blocked new oil refineries for decades.

You're an idiot that is countered everytime you say something stupid.

Big Oil bought up all the independent refineries so they could control the price.

They know what they are doing.

Obama has issued more drilling permits than any other president.

Obama has restricted drilling on federal land more than any other president.

Gee this is easy

well then let's nationalize the oil industry and control the price.

Is there any industry we shouldn't nationalize?

Just gauging the direction you want to lead us in...

nobody seems to be happy with the free market approach.

Nobody?

You are spokesperson for the United States?

Is that an appointed position?

Do you advocate everyone wear grey coveralls and salute a dear leader?

Never said you did but the fact of the matter the majority of the left tried to blame Bush for high gas prices and now when the right gives the left some of what they dished out back then the defense from the left is Bush this and Bush that some of which comes from the President himself so pardon me for having some fun with it.

If the gasoline hikes that occurred the previous decade were NOT from QE, then why did they rise so much under President Bush?

If memory serves me....the reason why Dems were suspicious of the Bush Cheney presidencies was because they both had oil connections and a long life of being connected to the oil industry, so it seemed as if they could have "benefited" from the higher oil and gas prices and higher profits with cheney's retirement invested in it? Or it appeared as though they had no concern towards the oil prices rising because their friends and family would benefit.....This may or may NOT be true....I'm not truly certain if that is even possible, but that was the concern.

As far as I am aware, Obama does not have these same oil connections as Bush and Cheney with friends and family so there is no connection that can be made with him allowing this for the benefit of these friends and family....thus...be it for good or for worse, LESS of a concern by Dems.
I see so because Bush and Cheney had family and friends in the oil business then that somehow makes them responsible for gas prices if were going by that logic then I believe Obama and Biden should be held accountable for the high cost of legal fees as both are lawyers and have connections in the business.
Well....that is what was thought at the time....they defended the hike in oil, refused all measures that congress tried on getting the 'speculating under control'', refused to release oil reserves as Clinton did when oil rose under him, and appeared to be favoring the high oil prices and the so called free market and crazy speculators and all their oil buddies got rich, off of us.....

look at all the crud you guys are speculating and spewing about Obama and it being his fault, when there is NO reason to even go there.....

politics is just scummy all around I suppose...

Average retail gasoline prices have more than doubled under President Obama, according to government statistics, rising from $1.84 per gallon to $3.85 per gallon.

The average gasoline price is calculated by the Energy Information Agency, and shows that over the past 43 months of President Obama’s term retail gasoline prices have more than doubled, rising from an average of $1.84 per gallon to $3.85 per gallon.

Rising gasoline prices were particularly prevalent in August, which saw a 9.0 percent rise in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for gasoline, a rise that almost entirely accounts for the general increase in prices seen by families across the country over the past month.

In other words, the recent spike in prices for all goods – tracked by the government’s Consumer Price Index – can be almost entirely accounted for by the rise in gasoline prices. Prices in the economy rose by 0.6 percent overall in August.

“The seasonally adjusted increase in the all items index was the largest since June 2009. About 80 percent of the increase was accounted for by the gasoline index, which rose 9.0 percent and was the major factor in the energy index rising sharply in August after declining in each of the four previous months,” the Bureau of Labor Statistics said in a press release announcing the new CPI figures for August...

Oh for the love of fucking god. What were they during the Bush years? It was below 2.20 for what? 6 months out of 96?

I'm sorry.... But this is aimed at the morbidly stupid. My opinion.

Skyrocketing Food & Gas Prices really are hurting average Americans. It is a big issue.

And yet they will line up for hours to get a new Iphone 5, on credit.

Well, 'Shop till you Drop' has been advertised as the solution to all problems. And the Government has been the chief proponent of it. They've all but mandated it by force. And now our Government and People are suffering the consequences. 'Shop till you Drop' is not the solution. In fact, it's much of the problem.

you do remember president bush telling ALL OF US right after 9/11, the biggest catastrophe by our enemies on US soil, ''TO GO OUT SHOPPING''...., don't you? It's important if your country runs on Capitalism, i suppose?

Bernanke just virtually guaranteed that they will skyrocket regardless of demand with permanent
QE3.

Obama is not 100% at fault ... but his decision to shutdown gulf oil production by not issuing permits hasn't helped. His decision to promote insane energy alternatives hasn't helped.

Oil down a second day on economic concerns, Saudi pressure | Reuters

The source also said most members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries want oil prices around $100 per barrel and would boost production over the next few months.

"Unless there is a major supply disruption in the Middle East, there is nothing to push it higher," said analyst Andrey Kryuchenkov at VTB Capital. "Saudi will seek to drive it closer to $100 and everyone knows it."

Brent prices rose seven straight sessions before settling 2.4 percent lower on Monday, benefiting first from growing expectations that the Fed would act to bolster the economy, and subsequently from the actual launch of the stimulus program on Thursday after a two-day policy meeting.

yes gas prices have doubled, they did the same thing under Bush. It would be nice if the oil companies could give us a more stabilized market, but that will not be possible.

Yep then he opened up more drilling and they dropped like a rock..Thats how it's done

there is more oil being pumped out of US soil now than when Bush was president. The price went down because the economy tanked and demand was suddenly reduced. That is how that is done.

Same for natural gas?? but wait no its not, production went up price went down

Thats how its done. Its still supply and demand no matter the spin.

4.20 a gal New york, it will drive up prices across the board,I just had to start adding a trip charge for every service call we do.

It does seem that the Obama administration is doing more than the oil and gas companies would lead us to believe to increase domestic production. ~ James Burgess

-pewsh!- Get a clue dude/dudette. The oil industry isn't drilling on the federal lands that the Obama Administration has already issued permits for -- why in the world would the oil industry need more permits when they're not exploiting the permits they have? Oil and gas companies are lying their asses off and-----and, as usual Republican Fox newsdupes are buying it but-----but the evidence produced by Secretary Salazar doesn't support the oil and gas companies BS.

46 Million Acres of Federal Land and Water Leased for Drilling just Sitting Idle

By James Burgess
15 May 2012

The oil and gas industry has been working in unison with a few congressional allies to constantly blame the Obama administration for the current energy prices in the US, claiming that the government are blocking domestic energy development by not releasing enough permits for exploration and drilling.

The government has now hit back at these claims by releasing a report that proves that the claims against them are actually unfounded and that roughly 46 million acres of federal lands and waters leased for drilling are sitting idle. The oil and gas companies are only actively drilling or starting to develop less than a third of the area that they have leased offshore.

Ken Salazar, the Interior Secretary, said that this analysis highlights the White House’s commitment to allowing oil and gas drilling on federal land and waters. “We continue to make millions of acres of public lands available for safe and responsible domestic energy production on public lands and in federal waters. We also want companies to develop the tens of millions of acres they’ve already leased but have left sitting idle in order to further reduce our reliance on foreign oil as quickly as possible.”

But the oil and gas industry argue that it takes time for the companies to perform seismic tests of the region, and then plan for drilling permits. Kathleen Sgamma, vice president for government and public affairs at the Western Energy Alliance, said that, “the administration continues to deflect blame for leases that are not producing onto the industry, yet their rhetoric displays a misrepresentation of how oil and natural gas development on federal lands works.” The industry representatives profess that the information on leases is misrepresentative because the government delays on providing the drilling permits; but in 7,000 cases observed in the report, the companies had been granted both leases and drilling permits, and still haven’t started work.

In an attempt to spur the development of this idle land, the Interior Department has decided to boost the annual rates for offshore acres that are leased, but are not producing oil. They have also shortened the length of time that a lease can be held before initial drilling starts.

Clinton allowed foreign countries to dump oil on domesitc markets at below production cost contratry to international accordance, resulting in the closing down of thousands of businesses and the layoffs of tens of thousands of oil and gas industry employs. Fuck you very much.
