Businesses paying low wages are having their labor costs subsidized by taxpayers. I have a problem with my taxes subsidizing the lifestyle of business owners that pay Americans slave wages. What part of $7.25/hour doesn’t afford housing anywhere in the US is unclear?Taxpayers weren’t subsidizing my labor costs. I was paying out at 50% of my top dollar earned in taxes, and from what was left over I paid for rent, insurance, raw materials to make my product, advertising and marketing, business equipment, and staff compensation. NONE of my employees were being subsidized.
So why all the resentment for small business owners who took a risk and then ended up providing livelihoods for four other people - all while providing a much-needed product? Could it be that you hate when someone shows that motivation, discipline, and skill can pay off - and doesn’t just take handouts from other people?
P.S. I am curious to how many people YOUR business employed, and what the lowest and highest salaries were. Thanks.

Truly, you should be applauding people like me. I gave up a secure job in the 80s because I had a great idea, made sacrifices, had to work out of my apartment the first couple of years with NO help, and eventually created livelihoods for four other people, excluding myself. I paid my top guy $70,000….good money in the 90s. I even did a favor to the teen, who needed spending money, and paid her above market.

Second, small businesses do indeed create the majority of jobs in thr U.S. - 64% of them. (link below) That is why it is so harmful when liberals denigrate small businesses, set up government to compete with them (by paying their potential workers so much they refuse to take jobs), and suffocating them with high taxes.
Third, am I really so unusual in paying staff well? (I know I’m generous, but I couldn’t be the only one!) Plenty of business owners pay well more than required, and mainly because the caliber of what you can get at the very bottom wage is pretty bad (and raising that bottom wage doesn’t make them any more helpful.)
Once liberals stop villifying motivated, talented, risk-takers as some evil entity to be squashed, our country will be better off.
