I joined up at 26 so I wasn't some snot nosed teenager straight out of high school and I took a huge paycheck hit when I signed up. I did things that people who complain about the service,. people like yourself, would cry and shit their pants and my job was managing networks and computer systems. At one posting I managed close to 800 computers at another I managed email servers and the network for a Joint Military Intelligence Command. So in all likelihood I couldn't think as slow as people like yourself if I tried.

So, there's a surge, from 350 shootings in 12 months from 310 shootings in 12 months. This isn't murders, it's shooting. But let's compare shootings in London, population 8 million, with murders in the US by state.

Murder in the United States by state - Wikipedia

Alabama. Population 4 million, half the size of London. Murder rate, 348 in 2015. Okay, so London's shooting number is about the same as Alabama's murder rate. Taking that about 3/4ths of murders in the US are with guns, that makes it at about 261 gun murders for a population HALF that of London. So, if it were the same size it would be 522 gun murders in Alabama to 350 shootings in London.

Texas, 27 million people, 1,316 murders. So, 987 gun murders. Texas is 3.375 times larger than London in terms of population. So, divide that 292 gun murders in Texas to 350 shootings in London. Yeah, Texas has a slightly LOWER rate of gun murders than London has a shootings. But then we're comparing shootings with murders. Big difference.

A little bit of understanding might make you look a little less foolish.

Criminals in London are far less likely to use the guns they own than criminals in the US are. Why? They fear losing those guns. In the US there's a ready supply of guns. In the UK it's far more difficult to get guns, and far more expensive. Doesn't mean they don't use them. But like my previous post, there are a LOT LESS uses of guns in the UK than the US.

The United Kingdom's National Ballistics Intelligence Service (NABIS) is conducting a new gun surrender program from Nov. 13 to Nov. 26 after gun crime in England and Wales increased by more than a quarter in the past year.

The Office for National Statistics found a 27 percent increase in crimes involving firearms during its most recent review of crime data. Despite a near ban on the civilian ownership of handguns the review found crimes committed with handguns increased by 25 percent and accounted for the majority of gun crimes. I'm not sure of all they have done, but you can't argue with such low gun related death rates, unless you are a brain dead gun nut. They would argue with a pine tree.

The UK has had a lower total murder rate than the US for as far back as I can find.

And their gun laws have absolutely nothing to do with that. In fact murder rates in the UK increased after they passed their gun laws
