The major point that you should take from actual history........

The largest of these, the Warsaw Ghetto, concentrated approximately 300,000–400,000 people into a densely packed, 3.3 km² central area of Warsaw.

Had the majority of the Jews in that ghetto been armed with rifles....and ammuntion......it would have been impossible for the Germans to succeed in the attack.....several hundred thousand rifles in the hands of determined fighters...would have held back the Germans as the Swiss did with their 435,000 armed civilians....

keep in mind the first post..........they had 3 rifles per area.....vs. 300,000 rifles they could have had had they not surrendered their guns......because the police and military would protect them.......and they learned that mistake at a terrible cost.....

Those currently serving in the army have fully automatic weapons in their homes. If they choose to buy/keep their weapons after service they have to apply and the weapon is converted to semi-automatic. Granted, this is after they have received mandatory training, something you would most likely object to.

Generally speaking in Switzerland you are not allowed to carry a loaded weapon out in public unless you have a specialized permit which are not granted to most citizens.

You have to be fully licensed to own a gun or buy ammunition.

As a liberal I tend to think the Switzerland model of gun ownership makes sense. You as a gun nut probably disagree with Swiss gun ownership laws more than I do.

[As] predicted the anti-gun HBO Sports interview misrepresented much of what I had said. They were apparently trying to make the AR15 civilian model seem too dangerous for civilian sales. They didn’t lie about what I said, they just omitted key parts which changed the meaning. The examples I most object to are:

1. When I appear to say that the civilian model AR15 is just as effective or deadly as the military M16 they omitted that I had said “when firing semi auto only and that the select fire M16 on full auto is of course more effective”

2. The interviewer pretended not to understand the relevance that due to the Hague Convention military bullets cannot be expanding hollow points like hunting bulletsthat give up all of their energy in the target body instead of passing through with minimum wound effect with most of the energy still in the bullet and wasted. But 5.56 can’t complete with hunting cartridge bullets which can legally be expanding hollow point that are more lethal than tumbling and their lethality is based entirely on how powerful they are. 5.56 is only half as powerful as the 7.62 NATO (.308) hunting bullet.

The bottom line is that there is no reason why weapons of mass destruction of any sort - chemical weapons, biological weapons, RPG's, improvised explosive devices (IED's), missiles, dirty bombs, nuclear devices, or assault weapons -- should be easily accessible. For 10 years there was a ban on the production, ownership and use of assault weapons in the United States until Congress and the Bush Administration allowed it to lapse when it sunset and came up for reauthorization in 2004.

Well ya know what... dumbass... what would have stopped the Orlando terrorist from killing as many people as he did would have been to have a conceal carry law like Texas has, so that SOME people in that club would have been armed and could have prevented the massacre. Taking guns from law-abiding citizens is never going to prevent mad men from mowing down innocent people with guns.

ANY gun... even an old-timey six-shooter is capable, in the right hands, of killing a lot of people in a short amount of time. except it the military and police have a rifle or pistol, then the people who pay their salaries get it first....since we pay their checks, and they obey our directives not the other way around.......when only the military and police have weapons, and the government turns on the citizens, as we see across the border in Mexico, and throughout history, then you don't have the problem with criminals getting guns, you have the problem of mass murder, genocide and ethnic cleansing...which have murdered more people than criminals ever will.....
