Francis Keys bridge hit by ship. Bridge collapses, mass casualty event.

The ship makes a hard right turn directly into the bridge support after it regains power…..

… Either the captain or harbor pilot deliberately steered into the bridge..:
Neither one of those things are true.

Several commentators on the bridge disaster have described the bridge underpass as 'wide', and enough for two large vessels to pass at the same time. However, looking at the photos of the scene it is obvious that the underpass was not that wide in relation to the ship involved. The bridge looks like a toy compared to the size of the ship. This suggests that such ships should have been escorted by powerful tugboats until they cleared the bridge underpass.

Also, it only took a slight deviation in direction for the ship to hit the bridge. There was little or no room for error.
The channel is 700 feet wide. Plenty of room for 2 ships at the same time.

For scaling purposes:

It was either hacked or deliberately driven into the bridge.

The power (lighting on the ship) goes on and the ship makes a sharp right turn into the bridge support.

Either the captain or harbor pilot deliberately steered into the bridge or the computers and steering on the ship were hacked.,

The ship would have likely missed the bridge support if it didn't turn right.

Notice the smoke coming out of the funnel as it accelerates for the turn and the ramming of the bridge.
This is what I have commented on for couple of days
The ship loses power but is still moving toward the channel. The lights come back on and the rear slides to the left and the bow turns to the right. Lights go back off and it glides dead on into the bridge
It’s as if whatever they did when power went off could not be changed when power came back on. Had they jammed the rudder when power was off and it stayed stuck when power came on and directed the ship into the bridge?

And I thank you for your excellent details and comments which have me mostly thinking that way but enough counter commentary to not be certain

They were traveling 9mph in a river that flows at ____mph. I don't think they were speeding.
Like everybody else here, I can only go by credible source articles. Several I have read commented on the speed, and how it might have adversely effected the outcome, but no, I have no personal nowledge of what happened, or why.

There's many people that don't read for facts and also those that like to spread rumors and conspiracy theories. It's just really sickening in this situation because of those that died.

You're wrong about the effect of the anchor and that makes it likely that you're wrong about everything else.

(can somebody tell this clown why he's wrong and save me the trouble?
Sorry, that's directed to the kyzr clown.

I also must consider that my eyes don’t deceive me. The boat is headed in one direction and lights go off, some time goes by and lights come back on and ship turns to right.
Why and how?

Don’t troll up this somber and serious thread by telling everyone how stupid they are while presenting no countering fact info yourself

You're ignorant on the subject.

Now that we see the recorded course over ground, it appears that there were two course corrections to starboard!!

Were either or both in response to the ship's helm or was it due to natural causes?

Mybe this moderator has something to offer? Questions would be better than the nothing coming from you.

You obviously don't understand that the speed recorded is speed over ground. In any case the ship was travelling at the correct speed.
Now you know something.

When the lights went out the first time, that was the blackout. When you saw the lights come back on, that was the emergency generators kicking in. The ship's engines did not restart.

They have no power, no steering, no rudder control, no thrusters, etc. Knowing the ship was drifting towards the bridge support, the pilot told the crew to drop the anchor on the left side of the ship. In normal circumstances, that would have "pulled" the bow of the ship to the left. There just wasn't enough time and distance for it to work like they hoped.

The ship was drifting to the right because of the river current and wind.
