I am disappointed in The Judge. He and I are nearly 100% in agreement on all topics, but this surprises me.

He is talking about New York state law which prohibits paying someone to do something illegal (including violating federal election laws). The problem is that you can't have it both ways. If Trump paid Cohen to pay off Stormy, it was not an illegal campaign contribution by Cohen.

Trump could have paid off Stormy himself. Giving Cohen money and ordering him to pay Stormy is no different than doing it himself. It only becomes a federal election crime if Cohen pays off Stormy as a gift to Trump, and it is only Cohen who is culpable, not Trump.

The absolute BEST you can get out of this is proving that Trump lied about paying off a whore to keep her mouth shut. Trumps a liar. We already know that. It's only illegal when under oath.

Gosh...you are really confused. What makes this a felony....as the Federal Prosecutors and Judges all agree is not the payment....it is the conspiracy...headed by trump...leading up to the 2016 elections.

The purpose of election laws is to assure funds, which have limits, are not used to conceal information that would shape the opinion of voters. At least...on two separate occasions....trump ordered and directed the conspiracy to do just that. The conspiracy...which is now easily proven...makes this a felony.

Even if he paid out of his own pocket, it was still done to protect the campaign which makes it a contribution and because it was over the legal limit, it's a violation.
Although it can be over the legal limit, if its disclosed. But it wasnt disclosed.
