First the Navy not rdy to fight..now the Army

Hmm that is interesting now that we're talking about cost reduction under Trump, Lockheed becomes a valid source of trusted information. I could have sworn when reading through other threads about F-35 that everything they say about the planes capabilities and costs was to be dismissed as bullshit PR. Heck even what pilots from various countries say is rejected as fake PR, but Lockheed was the King of it.

Strange how a change in which buttocks are perched in the Oval Office can quickly realign our sources.

There is a politics forum, why don't you go play there with your conjecture about what political parties which to do.

when is the right wing going to stop being afraid of wartime tax rates?

Around the same time they stop being afraid of anyone who is not a right wing zealot.
the national socialist right wing alleges to believe in Capitalism; wartime tax rates for our alleged wars on crime, drugs, poverty, and terror; or they don't exist for police power "functionality".

What do you expect for a measly $600 billion a year?

A useful military?

You people are delusional.
do tell...over half navy fighters are sidelined and Army has 2-3 BCT redy to go.....where did all the money go.....and now we are burning ammo at an unsustainable rate.....lest have an audit and find out what the hell is going on....btw Trump getting half off AF 1 and significant cut on F-35 shows we are being ripped off big time on acquisition. BTW 2......Comparing our expense to Chinese is not an apple to apple...they buy a lot from state owned companies.....methinks they pay fairly close to cost on that eh unlike us
National socialist results require national socialist tax measures. Only the right wing, never gets it.
In consideration of the monstrous sacrifice in property and blood that each war demands of the people, personal enrichment through a war must be designated as a crime against the people. Therefore, we demand the total confiscation of all war profits.

The right wing has Only problems and No solutions.

We also have the legal concept of employment at will and our very own, at-will employment States.

The right wing has a problem with, equal protection of the law, because it benefits the least wealthy under our form of Capitalism.

What you get with Republicans running Congress for the last six years

The Republican Congress and the last President got into a Mexican stand off over the Budget while our troops were doing tour after tour after tour.

The US cannot introduce enough major units into Asia to win a war unless it is against a foe like ISIS, and there they can only play wack a mole. We can thank Bush and Obama and the Congress for this state of affairs.

To put ten effective divisions overseas will take several years.

So let's concentrate on an air shield and a deep water navy off the enemies's shores, yes.

should we call off our alleged wars, due to a perceived lack of Congressional interest in wartime tax rates, to meet the exigency?

We should not be overseas in almost all cases is my opinion.

When we do, we should not borrow the money.

I find it hard to justify that our military does not have enough funding

The U.S. spends 43 cents out of every defense dollar in the world. How can that not be enough?

Not unusual for a democrat regime to deplete the Armed Forces. Harry Truman was busy not only downsizing the Military after WW2 but he had planned to reduce the Marine Corps to a ceremonial detachment. Ironically it was the Marines that saved Truman's ass in Korea after he bungled the Korean Conflict so badly that the fawning left leaning media called it "the Forgotten War". The Troops didn't forget though. Truman couldn't even get support from his own party to run for a full 2nd term.

Part of that chart is not an apples to apples, for instance, do you think China and Russia are paying the outrageous markups for equipment we are....I highly doubt it. Hopefully Trump and Mattis have only just begun to tackle the waste in procurement.

Today, only about 1/3 of our BCTs, 1/4 of our Combat Aviation Brigades and half of our Division Headquarters are ready. Of the BCTs that are ready, only three could be called upon to fight tonight in the event of a crisis. http://docs.house.gov/meetings/AS/AS00/20170207/105530/HHRG-115-AS00-Wstate-AllynD-20170207.pdf
Again the Question is why are we only learning this now......,,,Think a lot of house cleaning needs to be done

And the Air Force and Marines have units that are not combat ready and can't even put half of their units into the field.

The author of that report directly blames the Budget Control Act of 2011.

Boys and girls, who authored that act? Why yes, it was the Republican Congress, getting it through as part of the deal where they'd no longer hold the debt ceiling hostage.

Place blame where blame is due. You did this, Republicans. Own it. For the first time in your lives, take responsibility for your own screwup.

(Yeah, right.)

Why not, the funding is there?

You all do realize that a good chunk of the dod budget was being diverted to climate change, correct?

You should see what they pay for hammers and wrenches and things. It's not right. $72 for a hammer.
