A different news article states

The jury in the murder trial that began Monday will decide whether Guyer committed murder, a lesser offense such as manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide, or no crime at all. (USA Today)
I'm wondering if one of the legal scholars here can explain why execution is not an option in this case and since it's not why the prosecution is going for a murder conviction as opposed to manslaughter.

Texas Police Enter Wrong House, Kill Armed Homeowner

2013
Two Fort Worth Police officers who fatally shot an armed homeowner told investigators that poor lighting caused them to go to the wrong house while investigating a burglary call.

The policemen were at the wrong address.
They accidentally killed the homeowner.
Those policemen were not indicted.
The family is still trying to sue the city.
Guyger's case is also an accident, not a murder.
However there is one huge difference in the two similar accidental police shootings stories.
Guyger's case is a national News story.
Jerry Waller's case was not a big News story.
You probably never saw Jerry's News story on CNN or MSNBC, on CBS.....
So why didn't Jerry Waller's story get the same amount of Media attention?
.....because Jerry Waller was white
The Press fans the flames of racial tensions on purpose because it helps the Democratic Party get out the vote

Well, that and it was six years ago.

And these guys were responding to an actual call to the police, not just wandering into the wrong persons house because they were drunk.

And Jerry Waller was waiving a fucking gun around!!!

The two officers were sent to 409 Havenwood Lane at 12:51 a.m. on May 28. They began searching the house across the street at 404 Havenwood Lane. They encountered Jerry Waller, 72, who had armed himself with a .38-caliber pistol while standing in his garage.

Officers said they ordered Waller to drop the weapon, but he instead pointed it at the officers. One of the officers fatally shot Waller as he stood in his garage.

She should never be a cop or have a gun if she is going to be so reckless. She took an innocent life, and she needs to pay.

If everyone went around on autopilot, there would be a lot more accidents and deaths.

There is so much more about the fiefdoms that you support. Law/Corrections/Judicial.They are there because the peasants were convinced centuries ago they were needed. And frankly to an extent they are. But over the centuries they have become so enlarged and corrupted. Corrupted beyond belief. They protect the rich relatively cheaply. Only in the last couple of decades or so, if the rich does something on the streets they get put on the news. except for the pure protected.

I suspect you want her to walk and get her job back. Is that right?
