Feds recommend 'substantial term of imprisonment' for Michael Cohen, Trump's former fixer and attorn

5 years is substantial? that's what I heard anyway and if that's the case he will be out in two or less...

Five years would be a very lenient sentence, considering the crimes to which he pled guilty. Clearly he provided a lot of useful information to Bob Mueller.

A lickspittle funnels 130 grand to a hooker to buy her silence, goes to jail. Meanwhile, the mob boss walks free.

What does a fixer have to tell us about Crooked Donnie

A lot more than paying off porn stars

Five years is a lot more than Denny Hastert got for the same crime.

And he was a pedophile.

Cohen probably got a little more time because of the campaign finance violation.

Other than that, he was convicted of the same banking violations as Hastert.

Not accurate.

On top of the charge of lying to congress, Cohen pled guilty to the following 8 charges:
Count

Charge

Maximum Penalty

1-5

Tax Evasion

5 years in prison

6

Making false statements to a federally insured bank

30 years in prison

7

Causing an unlawful corporate contribution

5 years in prison

8

Making an excessive campaign contribution

5 years in prison

*****************
Hastert pled guilty to only one charge: illegal structuring. And it carried a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.

So, no comparison, really.

A pedophile gets 15 months, Cohen gets five years
Irrelevant, he was not charged with pedophilia.

Hastert faced a maximum sentence of 5 years on the charge for which he was convicted.

Cohen faces a maximum sentence of 72 years in prison.

Admitted liars are not credible witnesses! Who would believe an admitted liar?

If Cohen broke the law, he should be punished.

As should anyone else who broke the same laws.

It’s not that complicated.
