Well i guess they haven't dropped it ... yet. But i'll bet anything that Holder gets away with it. None of the top people in this administration will ever be accountable for their actions. What kind of "settlement" could there be? Holder should be forced to step down, at the least!

Attorney Kerry Kircher, representing the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, told Jackson that his team and lawyers from the Justice Department would be meeting "in the very near future" to discuss a settlement in the case.

An internal report by the Justice Department found no evidence that Attorney General Eric Holder knew about a botched gun-trafficking operation to Mexico, but does recommend that 14 federal law enforcement officials, including the head of the criminal division, be disciplined.

"It is unfortunate that some were so quick to make baseless accusations before they possessed the facts about these operations -- accusations that turned out to be without foundation and that have caused a great deal of unnecessary harm and confusion," Holder said in a statement. "I hope today's report acts as a reminder of the dangers of adopting as fact unsubstantiated conclusions before an investigation of the circumstances is completed."

Schultz responded that Issa's account "has as much merit as his absurd contention that Operation Fast and Furious was created in order to promote gun control."

"Our position is consistent with executive branch legal precedent for the past three decades spanning administrations of both parties, and dating back to President Reagan's Department of Justice," Schultz said. "The courts have routinely considered deliberative process privilege claims and affirmed the right of the executive branch to invoke the privilege even when White House documents are not involved."

A supporting document provided by Schultz listed five such cases, including an October 1981 assertion by Reagan involving documents describing internal deliberations inside the Department of the Interior and another by Reagan a year later involving internal Environmental Protection Agency files.

Instead of focusing on the real problem (the failed war on Drugs) this became another GOP witchhunt, or something-a-Gate, to try and pin on the President.
