It is very clear, and very obvious, that Trump didn't have as large a turn out as Obama. Obama was a historic event, the first black man to be president. Even though policy wise, he was a dud, he still was the first black man to be president. Of course the turn out will be higher. (granted I think that's stupid.... who cares? But whatever).

Even if they elected another black man, who was a Democrat, the audience size would be smaller this time, than in 2008, because that was a 'historic first black man to be president'. The DC Metro system keeps precise and accurate records of the numbers of riders that go to these events via the Metro. They have huge parking lots for both cars and buses. Riders are counted when they use a pass, ticket, through turnstiles. The Metro tweets out reports throughout the day to inform riders of parking conditions, crowded stations etc.
Metro reported no problems with parking at any of the stations or waits for trains. The final tally for inauguration day was 570,557 riders. That compared to 780,000 for the 2nd Obama inauguration and 1,001,616 for the womens march on Saturday.
