In his first address to a joint session of Congress, President Donald Trump stuck closely to his prepared remarks, but ran afoul of the facts in some cases.

  • Trump said the U.S. has spent $6 trillion in the Middle East and “with this $6 trillion we could have rebuilt our country.” The amount spent so far is $1.7 trillion, according to the Defense Department.
  • He cherry-picked the findings of a recent report, saying it found immigration costs U.S. taxpayers “billions of dollars a year.” The report said immigration “has an overall positive impact on long-run economic growth.”
  • Trump said “94 million Americans are out of the labor force,” a figure that includes the retired, college students and stay-at-home parents. The vast majority — 88.5 million — said they didn’t want a job.
  • Trump said he would “promote clean air and clean water,” a vague claim that came hours after he had signed an executive order to roll back a 2015 “Clean Water Rule.”
  • And the president repeated claims we’ve fact-checked before on border security, welfare, job creation since he was elected, health insurance and crime. For instance, he said the U.S. left “our own borders wide open, for anyone to cross.” But the border patrol budget and number of agents have both doubled since 2001.

No one expects any truth out of this buffoon. Some folks will cheer the blatant dishonesty, some will lament it, and some will shrug it off as american political business as per usual.

A.P. FACT CHECK FAIL: Trump Claim on Terrorism and Immigration Correlates with Justice Dept. Data.

Silly, it isn’t the A.P.’s job to upset a perfectly established narrative.

You'll shitpost anything, because "you think" it's in your favor. The best solution for you is to stop thinking.

Not once Trump mentioned "$6 trillion". His exact words were: "And we've spent trillions of dollars overseas, while our infrastructure at home has so badly crumbled." He told the truth.

By the way, the DOD number of $1.7 trillion is the cost of overseas contingency operations. Other war-related: additional DOD base budget ($733B) and Veterans ($213B) spending, for FY2001 - FY2016. Homeland Security spending ($548B) for prevention and response to terrorism, FY2001- FY2016.
Interest on borrowing for wars, FY2001-FY2016 ($453B).

That gives you $3,689B - total war appropriations and war-related spending through 2016. Add to that future spending such as obligations for veterans medical and disability expenses ($1T) and just this year request from DOD ($66B) and DHS ($37B), and number goes above $4.79 trillion. So you lie.

You refer to the "recent" report. How about you provide the link to the report, cause frankly, leftist can hardly be trusted with anything.

94 million people are not in labor force. It doesn't matter why, the number he gave is correct.

Nope, he did not roll back Obama's clean water rule. That's what NYT, MSNBC, and other fake news wants you to believe. His executive order is request the EPA to review Obama's water regulations to make sure they are not harming the economy.

Every leftist fact check is lie upon lie upon lie, just as is the OP.

Yeah, and Hillary won...

Trump said the U.S. has spent $6 trillion in the Middle East and “with this $6 trillion we could have rebuilt our country.” The amount spent so far is $1.7 trillion, according to the Defense Department.

A Harvard University study concluded a cost of: $4 trillion to $6 trillion for just Iraq and Afghanistan. The Harvard paper estimated that future medical care and disability benefits for veterans of these war will near $1 trillion.

Furthermore ANYTHING coming from Snopes, politifact and factcheck.org is left of center. Fact check was founded by liberals and progressives and slants their commentary in such a fashion. Although they are not anywhere near as tarnished as snopes - they are still left leaning in their analysis.

That's the nature of the beast what goes up will eventually come down, but you can bet your sweet bippy that when the bubble bursts the left will be out in droves trying to pin it on Trump.
