Slovaks plant explosives on air traveller
Bratislava Airport
Security was being tested at two airports in Slovakia

Irish police have released a man held over an explosives find, after Slovak authorities admitted planting them in his luggage as part of a security test.

The explosives were among eight contraband items placed with passengers at Bratislava and Poprad-Tatry airports last weekend.

The 49-year-old man unwittingly brought the material into Dublin when he returned from his Christmas holidays.

He was arrested on Tuesday morning, but has since been released without charge.

Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern said he was very concerned that Irish police had not been alerted for three days.

Airport security detected seven of the illicit items, but the eighth - 90g of research development explosive - was planted on an Irish electrician.

He unknowingly managed to escape detection at Poprad-Tatry Airport, in north-east Slovakia.

Now.........part of the airline screening is they ask if you packed your own bags, as well as has anyone else packed or had your bags without your knowledge.

Fucked up thing is that THEY are the ones planting the bombs!

Maybe AQ and the Taliban have finally infiltrated an airport.

And, this was a fail because they missed 1 package of plastique explosive, as well as lost the one that they DIDN'T CATCH FOR THREE DAYS!!!!!

Think airtravel is still safe?

Firstly, the explosives were "Planted" in the bag by Slovak security. Secondly, Ireland is a very very low level threat for international terrorism, So is Slovakia. Thirdly the person was returning to Dublin from his home in Slovakia. Fourthly you are screened at the airport of departure, not at arrival as bombs are supposed to go off in transit. Fifthly there was no warning given to the Irish authorities in Dublin of the test until after the bomb went through, and only then did a fax get sent to the company that handles baggage. Not to the Garda, Special Branch or E.O.D.
Once they were alerted they cordoned off the block, took the guy into custody, recovered the explosives and released him.

Air travel has only ever been safe in the statistical sense of miles traveled.

So........in other words, you're only safe until you reach a certain set point of miles?

Shit.......rather walk.

Here, this should help you cross any large bodies of water you encounter.
