There's a lot of natural phenomenae if ignorant of the science behind it could easily lead to religious panic. Cryometeors are one that's still on my mind a lot.

"More than 50 megacryometeors have been recorded since the year 2000. They vary in mass between 0.5 kilograms (1.1 lb) to several tens of kilograms. One in Brazil weighed in at more than 50 kilograms (110 lb).[1] Chunks about 2 m (6 ft 7 in) in size fell in Scotland on 13 August 1849."
