Egypt To Try 19 Americans For 'Banned Activities'...

I wouldn't go to Egypt either. Since spies are using NGOs as a cover, it would not be out of the question to consider any foreigner a spy.

Anyone who visits a war zone as a tourist either is too stupid to survive and needs to be taken into custody for their safety, or is a spy for one side or other.

There are alot of niaeve Yankees out there who either don't believe things are bad as they say on the news, or think that America is a bad evil country and Iran and Egypt are good countries with excellent governance and beautiful open minded people.

Then by all means, those people should go there. I didn't think the place was full of beautiful open minded people, but I wouldn't have figured on having to have an armed escort the way we did.

That will likely be the ONLY thing that prevents islam from becoming the majority. Maybe we shouldn not be so nasty toward the Hispanics.
More US Hispanics drawn to Islam

With her hijab and dark complexion, Catherine Garcia doesn't look like an Orlando native or a Disney tourist. When people ask where she's from, often they are surprised that it's not the Middle East but Colombia.

That's because Ms. Garcia, a bookstore clerk who immigrated to the US seven years ago, is Hispanic and Muslim. On this balmy afternoon at the start of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month, she is at her mosque dressed in long sleeves and a long skirt in keeping with the Islamic belief in modesty. "When I was in my country I never fit in the society. Here in Islam I feel like I fit with everything they believe," she says.

Garcia is one of a growing number of Hispanics across the US who have found common ground in a faith and culture bearing surprising similarities to their own heritage. From professionals to students to homemakers, they are drawn to the Muslim faith through marriage, curiosity and a shared interest in issues such as immigration.

The population of Hispanic Muslims has increased 30 percent to some 200,000 since 1999, estimates Ali Khan, national director of the American Muslim Council in Chicago. Many attribute the trend to a growing interest in Islam since the 2001 terrorist attacks and also to a collision between two burgeoning minority groups. They note that Muslims ruled Spain centuries ago, leaving an imprint on Spanish food, music, and language.

My girlfriend is Mexicans and I have been around alot of them, I don't see alot of them wanting to give up Cinco De Mayo and eating menudo (contains pork) to accomade the Islamic life style.

I had a high school classmate who married an Iranian muslim. One of his favorite dishes is our delicious western KY hickory smoked pork barbeque. I asked how he reconciled this practice with his faith. He said that allah forgives him. LOL

Incorrect amigo.

I have eaten menudo many times.

The soup Menudo is a traditional Mexican dish, made with beef stomach in a clear broth or with a red chili base (this variation is called menudo colorado). Usually, lime, chopped onions, and chopped cilantro are added, as well as crushed oregano and crushed red chili peppers. Boiled tripe has a tough chewy texture very similar to calamari, but with a completely unique flavor and smell.

Oh my bad, I could have sworn they used pig parts in there.
Tell your girl friend that she can now convert to Islam and still eat menudo.

Plus, there wouldn't be any problem with her celebrating Cinco De Mayo as a muslim woman.

But she couldn't date an infidel like you anymore unless you converted to Islam. :eusa_angel:

Somehow, I get the sense that HG doesn't have to settle for a muslim woman.

Egypt to try 43 NGO workers, including 19 Americans, over funds.

Ignoring a stern U.S. threat, Egypt on Sunday referred 43 NGO workers, including 19 Americans, to trial before a criminal court for allegedly using illegal foreign funds to foment unrest.

The decision marked a sharp escalation of the dispute between Cairo and Washington over Egypt‘s crackdown on U.S.-funded groups promoting democracy and human rights. The two countries have been close allies for more than three decades, but the campaign against the organizations has angered Washington and jeopardized the $1.5 billion in aid Egypt is set to receive from the U.S. this year.

On Saturday, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton warned Egypt‘s foreign minister that failure to resolve the dispute may lead to the loss of American aid. The Egyptian minister, Mohammed Amr, responded Sunday by saying the government cannot interfere in the work of the judiciary.

“We are doing our best to contain this but … we cannot actually exercise any influence on the investigating judges right now when it comes to the investigation,” Mr. Amr told reporters at a security conference in Munich.

Among the Americans sent to trial is Sam LaHood, the head of the Egypt office of the Washington-based International Republican Institute and the son of U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. Five Serbs, two Germans and three non-Egyptian Arab nationals are also among those referred to trial.

All 43 have been banned from leaving the country. A date has yet to be set for the start of the trial.

He's changing the foreign policy landscape to be sure.

Hooray for the "Arab Spring" spreading truth, social justice and democracy throughout the middle east.... errrrrr.... wait.

Anyone else feel like the Libs are looking at a screening of Ep III and wondering why Anakin just killed all the padewans, going "this isn't balance! THIS ISN'T BALANCE!!!!"

yes yes... I know. NERRRRRRRRRDDDD!!! But apropos.

The term "Arab Spring" was just media spin trying to soft sell the reality of people freeing themselves fron the grip of Western backed puppet dictators.

The best to come out of the revolts is that people can now restore their country back to it's Islamic roots and be governed by Sharia Law.

Of course Israel and the West will do everything they can to derail the people's new found freedom to chart their own destiny.

By clandestinely creating social unrest and financial instability throughout the country.

Oh trust me, the arabs need no help in being barbarous towards one another. So we should all just leave them alone and let them return to their peacful religious conquest of weaker neighbors like was done in the middle ages.

Gotcha.
