Lets do a strawman..... Too many humans. .....
Nonsense. There are not "too many humans," and events such as these happen somewhere on earth every day. There were storms and volcanoes, and earthquakes and shit long before we got here (partly how we got here!).
You have a large home. New washer, dryer, stove, fridge. Plumbing is good. Electrical works fine. Its you, your wife, maybe two kids. But then you move in your inlaws. And they bring their relatives. And those relatives have friends. Now your house is not so large any more, is it? And the electrical is being overloaded with things plugged in. The bathrooms are used a lot, so your plumbing is getting a work out. You are not on sewer..its a septic tank. Its getting full faster. Things start to not be so new any more. Then the friends, family, your kids...have kids. Now your house is packed to the rafters. Not much room. The walls are cracking from everyone wanting their own pictures hung. The flooring is starting to cave from all the feet trodding hither and yon. You can't stuff something and expect it not to blow or collapse.
Earth is the house. Its full. Over full, to be exact. Damage has been done. It will get worse.
