Sorry, folks, but Granny has been absent for a good while AGAIN and I'm behind on lots of posts on lots of subjects. I really don't know where I am right now on politics. I'm at a point where I'm so sick and tired of politicians and empty promises I don't even know that I want to vote anymore...yet on the other hand I know it's not only my right, but my responsibility to do so. I don't see anybody out there worth voting for - sorta thinking about going for Trump just out of spite! LOL! Yes, I'm a registered Republican...but I don't necessarily vote a straight Republican ticket if I think there's, say, one person not a Republican who might be the better person. I don't think Trump's approach or demeanor is necessarily good, but he's bringing up points that do need serious consideration rather than being kept "hush-hush" or brushed under the rug for later consideration...in other words, forgotten.
I look at our border with Canada and we don't have the problems on that border that we have on our border with Mexico. For one thing - Canada doesn't play games about who they're going to let in their country!! I've been over the Peace Bridge between Buffalo, NY and Canada many times, been on both sides at Horseshoe Falls and Niagara Falls. And things are a good bit more strict now than they were when I lived up in Buffalo. Why can't WE get a grip on our southern border with Mexico? It's not just Mexicans sliding in under the wire down there. I have no issues with people who want to come into the US LEGALLY, but I DO have issues with illegal entry at any point of entry.
Trump, I think, has shaken up the Republican Party pretty good by bringing up "career politicians." We have people in Congress who have been there for decades and accomplished little to nothing. Why can't we have term limits? Presidents have term limits, governors have term limits, why not our Senators and Representatives? Do you really think they're going to vote "yes" on term limits? I don't think so. So how do WE THE PEOPLE force the issue?
I'm not sure how I got chosen by the NRSC to (in very flowery words) to be the [ahem] sole representative for my voting district....but they're real clear about wanting my money to support them. The final straw for me with that deal was to have one of the phone solicitors call me and, I MEAN, from the get-go pounce on me and preach my funeral about how un-American I am and when I tried to say something, the guy told me to shut up and let him finish his say and THEN I could have mine. And then he asks at the end, "Can I count on you for a $75 contribution?" Well, folks, I had my say: "NO."
I think in the last year or so it's become blatantly clear to all of us just how out of control and rife with corruption every single government department and agency we have has become over time. It's time for change.
