Well, considering that she's 96, these kind of things start to happen when you reach the upper reaches of age for humans.

To tell you the truth, I'm kinda surprised she's still sitting as monarch due to her very advanced age. But, I guess that is what happens in a system like Britain's.

The Queen Mother died in 2002 at the age 101. Her title was granted to her on the passing of her husband King George VI. There no current Queen Mother.

I learned all this from a friend of mine who was British. There is no Queen Mum. Mainly because there is one queen.
