Exactly. Let us stop deluding ourselves. Neither one man (king, emperor or president), nor a handful of them (courts, councils), nor half a thousand of them (senates, parliaments) can ever fairly rule or represent over three hundred million fellow human beings. Humanity's tragic flaw and never ending Greek Tragedy: the masses just want to go about living their lives, they want nothing to do with leading or being responsible for their fellow men nor calling the shots. So we hand over a degree of our personal freedom to those (who do want to rule), and without fail they abuse us in exchange for such shiny amenities as smart phones and Ritz Crackers.
