When an attack as vicious as the one that took place yesterday in Chattanooga, TN occurs, the first things we want to know are: who is the shooter, what are the motivations, is it a terrorist-related incident?

So far, we know that 24-year-old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez was an engineering major, born in Kuwait, and potentially came from a family with a terrorism background.

Now, it has been made known that that Abdulazeez briefly worked at an Ohio nuclear plant in 2013.

Multiple media outlets in Cleveland are reporting tonight that Abdulazeez was briefly employed by at Perry Nuclear Power Plant near Cleveland, Ohio in 2013, but failed to pass a background check:

Mohammad Abdulazeez, the Tennessee college graduate slain after a shooting spree which killed four U.S. Marines, reportedly failed a background check to work at a nuclear power plant in Ohio.
According to the Associated Press:

An Ohio company says the man who gunned down four Marines in Tennessee failed a background check in May 2013.

Todd Schneider, a spokesman for FirstEnergy Corp., says Muhammad Abdulazeez was conditionally hired as an engineer at a nuclear plant in east Cleveland. He spent 10 days there before he was let go because he failed a background check.

He would not say why Abdulazeez didn’t pass the screening process.

However, FirstEnergy is not just “an Ohio company.” It provides electricity to multiple states, including the majority of land in Pennsylvania and West Virginia:

I think you missed my point.

Whenever one of the Second Amendment Heroes- Loughner, Holmes, Roof - goes on a shooting rampage, we find out two things.

1) They were batshit crazy and everyone in their lives knew it.
2) They were still able to walk into a gun store and buy guns.

Now, if someone had bothered to look into Abdul's life, they'd have found out there was no way he should hvae ever been allowed to buy a gun or work in a nuclear power plant.

Well, the people who ran the nuclear power plant did their job, the gun store guy didn't.

Security clearances are far more detailed searches than buying a gun Mr. Joe.................They even call friends and relatives before giving that clearance................

But that doesn't mean they'll get through the cracks.............From Kuwait............would be a red flag...............Many bat shit crazy people don't outwardly appear bat shit crazy................

You can work at a Nuke plant but not go inside the secure area...........offices are outside the secure area in these places as well.

It would work just fine. Germany has very strict background checks for gun ownership. And even though Germany has 17 million privately owned guns, they have less than 300 gun homicides a year compared to our 11,000.
