Dickhead Captured.

You can run but you can't hide, or get away with killing a cop.

Darn it! He ran into forest, now we'll never find him! ;)
Is that Arnold in Predator, in your pic?

DEVELOPING: Eric Frein, the suspect in the deadly ambush of a Pennsylvania state trooper, has been taken into custody after a month-long manhunt, The Pennsylvania State Police announced Thursday night.

No details were immediately released about his capture.

Frein, 31, allegedly opened fire outside the Blooming Grove state police barracks on Sept. 12, killing Trooper Bryon Dickson, 38, and seriously wounding Trooper Alex Douglass, 31.

Since then he had managed to elude a massive manhunt involving hundreds of state troopers, dozens of vehicles and a helium balloon.

Frein belonged to a military re-enactor's group, playing the part of a Serbian solder. He had a small role in a 2007 movie about a concentration camp survivor and helped with props and historical references on a documentary about World War I.

The FBI named him to its 10 most wanted list.

Frein has been charged with first-degree murder and various other offenses, including two counts of possession of weapons of mass destruction filed after police discovered the pipe bombs.

Earlier this month, Pennsylvania State Police revealed information from a journal found in the woods in which Frein allegedly described shooting the state troopers.

Wow! I am glad they got him!!!

But one part in the article seemed odd to me....

it said that they found 2 pipe bombs in his home in a search, and he is being charged with 2 counts of having a WMD... a weapon of mass destruction....

since when are regular ole pipe bombs, or bombs of any sort, WMD's? they never were considered WMD's? sure they can kill lots of people but WMD's was reserved for chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons??? wonder what made his pipe bmbs qualify as being WMD's?

Good !

Now I'll be interested to see how he was caught. Was he defiant, or a whimpering puddle of pissed pants after being on the lamb for a month ?

Why is it justified to spend millions of dollars on resources to catch a cop killer, but not your every day average Joe or Jane who gets murdered?

A fair point, but I think this guy has some particular loose screws that made him likely violent toward a great many more people than your average Joe Killer. There aren't as many newer unsolved murders in my area as there used to be though. LE is getting better and better at that craft.

The place where I used to work started getting all these intimidating demands for information from the department of Homeland Security. They were required to say no unless it came in the form of an actual court issued subpoena. Usually when they said no, nothing ever happened, but one time when they said no all kinds of crap started happening--including federal court issued subpoenas being delivered by federal marshalls and FBI fellows followed by interrogation of the workers who had dealings with the persons involved, demands for all information whatsoever they new about the transaction, etc. Turns out the person was eventually charged with a murder upstate but they were digging well into their finances in advance of that because they felt it was drug related and were closing the noose around them without them even knowing.

I'm surprised he was taken alive and with no resistance.

If he is a delusional psychopath, as I suspect he is, it could be he simply got tired of playing and lay down, allowing himself to be captured. And if I'm right he won't be fully aware of the reality of his situation until he wakes up in an observation cell.

Also, it is starting to get really cold this time of year.

The war on terror has caused this. It is becoming routine to call violence terrorist acts, and making the usage of the terms commonplace is desensitizing.

You've asked an important question. The simple answer is the United States has evolved into an insidiously authoritarian culture with sado/masochistic overtones.

Anyone who doubts that is invited to compose a list of police-oriented movies and television programs dating back to the Dragnet series of the 1950s. The gradual progression from the relatively passive police persona of that era into the virtually sadistic authoritarian/dominant conduct of contemporary, militaristic law-enforcement agents.

Has there been any knowledgeable mention as to what motivated this fellow to do what he did? Did he have cause to hate police in general or was he acting out a fantasy?

It would be very interesting to hear from him, so I hope they don't isolate him.

They'll probably beat the hell out of him first then let him tell his story later.

You're spot on.

But may I suggest it would be more accurate to say the "terror" scare has enabled the militarization of civilian police rather than having caused it. The impulse was latent and needed only the suggestion of a reason to energize it.

The cause is a subtly pathological element in the American culture.

I'm quite sure they would like nothing better than to beat him to death. He already has a cut on his nose, which will invoke sympathy and make the prosecutor's job harder. So his physical safety is assuredly secure.

Whoever is responsible for the cut on his nose could have a serious problem.

He's probably really lucky that he only has a cut.

If Jane's murderer took off into nearby woods with weapons, they'd go after him just like they did here.
In the example of murder of an ordinary citizen there would be less than one percent of the activity devoted to catching Frein. I understand that in addition to the state police there were local volunteers along with agents of the FBI, BATF, DEA, and Marshal Service. And the searching went on 24 hours a day for seven weeks.

Police authority is a virtual religion in the U.S. The reason for this is the police are committed to serve and protect -- the rich. Theirs is a holy purpose.

That is a very good point that it was lying underneath in the dark just waiting and hoping.

Listen here, genius.....

If that dude had killed a civilian with a sniper shot like he did the cop.....and then set off into the nearby woods Rambo style.....the fûcking response would have been the same. Period.
