I went through the same thing, having to deploy as a single parent. Fortunately, my daughter was old enough that who she lived with wasn't an issue, since she chose to live with me to begin with. I had to sign a form stating that even though I was a single parent I was still world-wide deployable in order to reenlist. At the same time, it really isn't fair to the single servicemembers or two-adult families to have to take up the slack for single parents.
