Democrats move for direct ownership of newspapers

What pretense of independent journalism?

What makes you think the journalism won't be independent? The Op/Ed may be a different story, but that's a given with most papers. What make this different beyond another reason for the right to whine?

The FAIR thing would be for the republican party to buy newspapers too. In this country, free press meant that the press was not owned by the government so that journalists could report the truth. In communist countries the news is tightly controlled, nothing goes in Pravda without government approval. A reporter that doesn't follow the party line doesn't keep his job, and perhaps not his life.

Liberals WANT a tightly controlled media, as long as it benefits the Democrat/Communists.

Can you tell us how the government controls the paper? When you're done with that tell us about Republican papers during the Bush years. :cuckoo:

Seeing as they were formerly owned by Republicans who nearly ran them into the ground, Democrat ownership won't do them much damage reputation wise

I do think it's pretty funny using an OP-ED from the Moonie Times complaining about "newspaper bias".

It's a free country, if they want to piss their money away on a failing enterprise then that's their right. It's not like Pennsylvanians can't get their news from other sources.

No big deal here. I think most people get their news from somewhere other than a newspaper anymore. Anyway, it's not like all news sources are biased. :cuckoo::cuckoo:
The age of "Just give me the facts, Jack!" is long over.

Its all about the spin today or making your point!!!!
