The Federal government became in the habit of not paying a penny for the costs to the states. Some states said "screw that". There is no Federal jail to hold illegals so it was on the state to do so. Not being able to afford that they quit trying.
I support enforcing the law on EVERYONE. We are NOT enforcing it on employers. Hence my position.

Enforce the laws on business and a large number of illegals simply leave. I then would support very strong enforcement on those who decide not to leave.
