The number of black and Hispanic registered voters has taken an enormous decline since four years ago and has the Obama campaign scrambling to sign up voters. The number of black voters dropped 7 percent, while Hispanic voters fell 5 percent, the first time it has dropped in almost 40 years. The decrease is being attributed to the struggling economy, which made it necessary for many to relocate in search of jobs. The strong turnout for Obama among the two groups is credited with helping him secure the presidency in 2008, and massive voter-registration pushes are starting across the country. That push is made more complicated by new legislation passed in eight states that require voters to show state-issued photo ID cards.

gee, what a coincidence

is that when registering or when voting ??? (Hint) if having to showing photo ID cards prevents the minorities, poor and elderly from voting, why not just use it to keep them from registering?

you are too lazy to read and comprehend the topic of your own OP. This has nothing to do with "racial nonsense", but an idiot like yourself can't be bothered to read the article.

“The only explanation out there is the massive job loss and home mortgage foreclosures, which disproportionately affected minorities,” said Antonio Gonzalez, president of the William C. Velasquez Institute, a nonpartisan policy group that focuses on Latinos. “When you move, you lose your registration.”

Political strategists and election experts are divided on whether registrations will rise to their previous levels. But the prospect of a tight race between President Obama and Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee, has placed great importance on getting eligible Americans to register and vote.

The decline in minority registration “is obviously an area of concern,” said Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg, president of NDN, a left-leaning think tank.

But he predicted the Obama campaign “will have enough money and enough focus to mitigate the problem. . . . They have five months to get the electorate looking the way they want.”

Afros don't have the mental capacity to vote for someone other than a Democrat.

No wonder they are fighting the show me proof of who you are voter laws.

No wonder the laws were enacted when no problem exists. But it serves the republicans in there effort to lower the black and hispanic voter turnout, but in the end the republicans will cause the black and hispanic turnout to increase. The NAACP, La Raza and other groups are doing voter drives months earlier to combat the voter ID laws. The law of unintended consequences will bite the republicans in the ass.

Then it didn't make sense in the context of the OP, but logic isn't your strong suit.

The whining ninnys are ACTUALLY objecting to the prevention of voter fraud.

The guys braying about it are totally transparent.

I don't care if EVERY eligible legal voter registers and votes and I further don't care if some of them are easily misled into believing that the liberal Democratics are the ones who are looking out for them. It's a fucking deliberate lie and the deception of the DNC is appalling. But they can all be misled and vote Democrat anyway.

What I don't want is for the liberal Democrat fuckers to register the dead or to get illegal aliens or even legal aliens to vote.

No HONEST person would object to validating the eligibility of anyone trying to cast a vote.

My logic is fine. I see using your racism against you confused you. Is ok, I gotta pill for that.

HA!!! Coincidentally, Voter ID laws in place at the same time.....

The Dems will get the same number of minority INDIVIDUALS voting. They'll just have far fewer total votes, thanks to ID laws!

Are you familiar with the new voter registration laws in affect in FL which fines groups $50 per registration form if they're not turned in within 48 hours? It's essentially ended the registration activities of that radical organization known as the League of Women Voters and others.

Despite ALL the talk that the GOP is not engaging in voter supression, this new law essentially does just that. However, unlike the ID laws, the results of this law is evident BEFORE the election because the number of registered voters is lower than it otherwise would be before an election.

The League of Women Voters and Rock the Vote, two groups that have long conducted voter registration drives, have largely suspended their work in Florida because of new laws in the state, as first reported by the New York Times on Wednesday. Their decision could prevent the registration of voters likely to support President Obama in a key swing state.

As a part of a wave of new voting laws passed across the country by GOP-controlled governors and state legislatures, Florida enacted a provision last year that mandates voter registration groups turn in the forms of newly-registered people within 48 hours or face fines of $50 for each late form. The laws have worried groups like the League of Women Voters, who argue they could face heavy fines for not complying with the provision.

What a coincidence. The same people being targeted by GOP voter ID laws are shrinking in registration. Yay for voter suppression! Yay for democracy, the GOP way!

We can be sure that the drive is on to identify people who were registered in each district in 2008 and to confirm whether they have "moved on". That makes it lots easier, they won't have to bother the dead, just send in surrogates for the "registered" names with no bodies to cast those votes.

Cruder.

As for voter ID, I favor the purple ink finger...must be the middle finger of the left hand and it dyed purple for all three joints.

Then when it's all over we can simultaneously shoot purple birds at BOZObama as he makes his clown car exit.
