DemocRAT Obey on Afghanistan Surge: "Fool's Errand"...

The afghan operation should have been over years ago and Iraq should never have happened.

Bring em all home. NOW!

Why don't you just make that your signature, since you can't seem to stay on topic in any thread, instead of whatever that thing is supposed to represent by your current sig?

I am on topic, the topic here is that Obey wants to raise taxes, or have you forgotten the OP already? And that thing is my military retired rank. I earned it and I use it. But you obviously know nothing about that. Just step away from the computer and go find a vet to thank.

Yes, I did forget the OP, but I stand with my remark that you will jump in willy-nilly just to mouth off. As for your rank, we can see it on your sleeve. And I thank veterans in person once a week when I cook for a half-way house for homeless vets, and I say goodnight to my father who fought in WWII, my uncle who fought in Korea, and a brother who died in Vietnam. The latter in response to just another one of your piss-poor assumptions about us evil "liberals."

Jump in willy-nilly? Please do try to stay on topic.

My salute to your father, uncle , and brother.:salute:

While it is true we should have finished in Afghanistan years ago, we didn't. The mission obviously isn't completed. And Iraq had to happen. Once Saddam attacked Kuwait and threatened (and attacked) Saudi Arabia, it could end only with his removal.

I remember shaking my head when I heard we were withdrawing from Iraq in the first war. We had all the necessary equipment and personnel there, finish the job.

HUH? That was the other war with Pappy Bush.

And I guess you forgot how Bush I cooked the intel for his benefit regarding the threat to Saudi Arabia?

But what can you expect from a president who pardoned himself in Iran Contra.

Agreed, all it would have taken was a left turn instead of the right hook.

Saddam attacked Saudi Arabia?

Kuwait is a sovereign Arab state and requested military assistance from the United States. Thus the first Gulf War.

Saddam Hussein was captured in December 2003.

It's now 2009.

George H.W. Bush actually meant it when he said he didn't want to do nation building, correctly predicting that the U.S. would be involved in Iraq ad infinitum. Imagine that.

he lobbed more scuds at the sauds than he did at israel, IIRC.

This really shouldn't come as any surprise. the Democrat mindset is simple. A raise in taxes will fix anything....... You would think by now they would have learned better.

When has a country ever prospered by NOT paying for the wars they wage?

Not too worry, Obama is set to tell the whole world the offcial "cut and run" date.

From priority one to fuck it in one year.

I guess he just wants to make sure we get a few more dead GI's before he says "see ya".

What a piece of shit.

the invasion of iraq in 2003 was the single worst foreign policy decision in the history of the US, bar none.

and i voted for bush in 2000 primarily because of his alleged opposition to nation building. fool me once, indeed.

"The essence of the Liberal outlook lies not in what opinions are held, but in how they are held: instead of being held dogmatically, they are held tentatively, and with a consciousness that new evidence may at any moment lead to their abandonment."

Sounds like the words of a man with no spine... a pussy if you will... a waffler... a ditherer and a man of no convictions.

How fucking stupid is this statement? Like.. what about our forrays in Southeast Asia? How about fueling the modern Islamo Fascists by caving to them in the late seventies? How about crucifying post WW I Germany so as to create the Nazi (Socialist) movement of the late thirties?

What a mypoic fucktard.

spoken by a person who hates evidence.

When you live in a fantasy land you cant understand cold hard evidence I guess

Are you aware it is standard military procedure to reinforce a withdrawing force to protect them on the way out?

nowhere near as stupid as not learning from viet nam, arming the mujahadeen and the consequences of versailles.

thanks for playing, rube.

oh, and it's spelled *myopic*

You mean Kuwait? It's located right at the tip of SA, so I'm sure some missed their mark. But Iraq never intentionally attacked Saudi Arabia. That would have been very foolish.
