I have been self-employed for over 25 years, and been debt-free for 20+ years...
The last time I received any government check of any sort was when I was 17 years old and stupid living on the Indian reservation.
I have never claimed anything off any insurance.
And I pay my accountant extra just to avoid paying the federal government more, Even though I could get by paying less to the federal government.

That may be true. And when a state govt is primarily funded with taxes on oil and gas and minerals that the rest of us end up paying ... I'm not sure what the difference is between that and welfare.

I'm to his left, and I think all income assistance should stop after 6 mos, unless a state or natl econ is in recession, and the only benefits would be charity hospitals for kids staffed by PA's and free school lunches. Lol.

Going by first FY budget to the end of the last FY budget

Obama added 74% to the national debt
Bush II added 101% to the national debt (but that is ok with you because he was a Repub)
Reagan added 186% to the national debt (but that is ok with you because he was a Repub)
The all time winner of course is FDR who added 1,048% to the national debt.
