Tuesday, June 14, 2011 - President Barack Obama said yesterday that you would want Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D.-Fla.) “on your side” because “she’s got a cute smile,” and you would want her “in your foxhole” because “not only is she charming” but she has a “dazzling smile,” and is “tough as nails.”

Obama spoke of Wasserman Schultz, who also chairs the Democratic National Committee, at two separate fundraising events in Miami on Monday. Wasserman Schultz’s congressional district includes parts of Broward and Miami-Dade counties. “To Debbie Wasserman Schultz, thank you for letting me in your district,” the president said at a fundraiser held at a private home. “If you're in the foxhole, you want Debbie alongside you, because not only is she charming and has that dazzling smile, but she's tough as nails. And that’s what’s needed during challenging times.”

At another fundraiser at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, Obama also praised the DNC chairwoman. “What do you guys think of our new DNC chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz?” the president asked the audience. “We are so thrilled to have her. You want Debbie on your side. She's a mom, she’s got that cute smile and all that, but she is tough. Don’t mess with Debbie. We are so glad of her leadership.”

Since taking the helm at the DNC, the new chairwoman has made a series of attention-grabbing comments. She recently asserted that Republicans “want to literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws.” She also castigated Republicans for believing that illegal immigration should be a crime. Republicans she said have suggested of illegal immigrants “that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries and that in fact it should be a crime and we should arrest them all.”

It's nothing new. FDR told Americans that "happy times are here again" during his first two terms presiding over a depression. Politicians will get obscure statistics and opinions from government employeed left wing zombies and present a case that "things are turning around" when you can see for yourself they aren't. People are better informed than they were during the days of Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather and democrats can't seem to understand that concept even when they lost congress last fall.
