Fuck Y'all I'm From Texas!
Making Chicken glazed with marmalade and apricot this evening and pulled the pan from a 425 oven with a pot holder only to turn around and grab it with a bare hand....
After a trip to the emergency room and a nice dose of morphine I'm home and feeling no pain.....
Hell of a good way to screw up my fishing/shooting weekend we planned for the last week.

And I didnt even get to taste it...

Ouch! So sorry. I hate when that happens.

I'm so bad with leaving things cooking,
I have to stick to an automatic rice cooker
and automatic slow cooker that turn themselves off when done.

Bless your heart, and hope your hand heals up fast
so you can get back to doing all your favorite things!

Thanks for the sympathy..
But damn it was a bonehead move,I've been into cooking for twenty years and to do this is a major slam to my ego.
The wife has been understanding beneath the snickering.
Of course with the morphine I wont hold it against her.

Always keep an Aloe Vera plant around. Instant burn relief.

Unfortunately this went way beyond what Aloe could fix.
They said it was second and third degree burns.
It hurt worse than the hip replacement or the cancer surgery aftermath.
I'll call it a lesson I wont soon forget.

Owwwwwwwwwwwch.

Everybody who reads this thread is gonna go a little slower on their next trip to the oven.

I know I wont be so complacent when cooking anymore.
You find a comfort zone after awhile and you stop being careful.
Live and learn as they say.

I'm gonna have to spank it left handed for the near future..:eek-52:

Lots of Vitamin E oil, pure only.
Sorry this hurts so much.

Next time, just stick to accidents in the kitchen that involve blueberries.

The wife told me I look like Michael Jackson with the one handed white glove.

Hey, Billy Wagner messed up his right arm and learned to pitch lefthanded at 98 miles an hour, so this too shall come to pass -- so to speak.

The racist in me doesn't like black children touching my food,

In seriousness, I hope you feel better. I'm OCD. I'll use a pot holder when I microwave something.

That's the real "kicker." You went through all that pain, literally and hadn't the fruits of your "sacrifice" to enjoy as even a minor compensation for it. That sucks!

Apricot glaze sounds delicious with chicken. I hope you get to make it sometime soon.

I'll most definitely do it again, left overs in this case wont do it justice.
But I'll be sure to let the wife pull it from the oven next time:eek-52:

Apricot glaze on cornish hens is awesome.

Meanwhile...it doesn't hurt, but I can't count the times I put the milk in the cabinet and the cereal in the fridge.

morphine is a very poor choice under the circumstances-----it will elevate your mood, cloud your judgement and probably lead you to stick your hand, or even
your head, in the oven again--------and it wears off QUICK. If you can take
ibuprofen-----it's probably a better choice

one would be amazed at what aloe can do.....i fell at a party and hit the wood stove with both hands to try not to fall any more......both my hands were burned....a dude at the party grabbed an aloe plant and began to put it on my hands....i will admit to being totally drunk ...next day my hands were a little tight but that was it...
