Curse of the Lottery

If you win big, but don't take the time to talk to a lawyer and an accountant to see where the best place is to keep your money, yeah..............you can lose it pretty quickly.

Knew a woman up here in Amarillo who was dating one of the guys I worked with, and she ended up winning around 50,000 dollars. She got so excited that she bought a whole bunch of crap she didn't need but wanted, and was back to living paycheck to paycheck around 8 months later.

Not only do you have to be lucky to win the lottery, but you've got to be a bit patient and smart if you want to survive it.

No curse; just something that ought to be obvious to most who are at least reasonably educated and intelligent.

The sort of mathematical and fiscal ignorance that would lead one to think that playing the lottery is a good idea is not going to tend to correlate very well with having the sort of sense that it takes to manage a substantial windfall in a reasonable and useful way.
