Yuba City woman shot, killed by police after census worker run-in | News10.net | Sacramento, California | News

YUBA CITY, CA - A Yuba City woman who police say was involved in a confrontation with a U.S. Census worker was shot and killed by Yuba City officers after allegedly refusing to drop a shotgun pointed at the officers, according to the Yuba City Police Department.

Way to defend your non-existent right to not be subjected to a fully Constitutional census - hope it was worth your life.

Sucks for the innocent cops who had to do this.

This makes no sense. The Census worker claims she was so upset at this woman it took 2 hours to call the cops after the woman pointed a gun at her?

The Census worker says she went to their home at 8 PM at night? Probably scared the shit out of the woman coming to the home after dark.

A 2 hour delay to call the cops because someone refused to answer your questions? The Census supervisor says they are not supposed to be visiting homes after sunset. Did the Census woker arrive at 10 pm shortly before the sops were called. 10 PM if far too late to be banging on someones door!

Sounds like there is more to this story-- if someone pointed a gun at me the FIRST thing I would do would be to call the cops-- not wait 2 hours then do so.

8 pm is not after dark in Yuba City at this time of year. Sunsets is after 8.

Yuba City, California - Sunrise, sunset, dawn and dusk times for the whole year - Gaisma

A 2 hour delay to call the cops because some refused to answer your questions?

If you read you'll she called her supervisor to complain that a gun had been pulled on her, and he called the cops. Doesn't say she waited 2 hours to call, either.
The Census supervisor says they are not supposed to be visiting homes after sunset.
It wasn't after sunset.

What you would have done isn't actually relevant.

So what is wrong with the census? What is so bad about the government wanting to know how many people live at your address, their names, ages and race? There weren't any questions on the census form that anybody with a phone book probably couldn't find out anyway. So what is so wrong with the census that you denigrate it so much?

It does not say she waited 2 hours to call-- it says she WAITED in fact it say it took her some time to call the police. Given that law enforcement did not arrive to the home until 2 hours after she says she arrived to the home and law enforcement ususally responds pretty quick to government worker or anyone for that matter having guns pointed at them-- I doubt that they would have waited for hours before responding to such a call from a Census worker.

You and I both know that it is not bright 20 minutes before Sunset at twilight. Sunset occured 20 minutes afte she arrived according to your chart. It was not bright at 8 PM at night, the sun was low in the sky and not a time to be knocking on peoples doors IMO. Her daughter even says she beleves her mother was scared.

Because the right is in a desperate struggle to convince the American people that, how do they put it on this board, "big gubmint" wants to control your life.

Someone on this board put it so eloquently, "Conservatives don't want anyone to tell them who to hate, but they want to to tell everyone who to love".

The "gubmint" is made up of people we vote for. People who live right up the street. There is no "evil entity". No one cares what you are "doing" as long as it isn't dangerous or destructive.

Conservatives have gone completely loony with their terror and fear. It's an "act" that is getting really old, really fast.

Of course we understand why they are doing it. Their party, the Confederate Republican Party of Teabags, is being marginalized and is moving further and further away from power. They have cried "wolf" so many times, they are now officially the party of "cry baby".

You said they weren't allowed to come by after sunset, not after it stopped being bright. Make up your mind and get back to us.

Are you saying you think waiting a little while to call your boss is more damaging to your credibility than pointing a shotgun at a cop's face?

From the file of "I thought it was obvious:"

Don't point a gun at the cops unless you want to die.

I thought this was a spoof story.

This is Tea Party Stuff.

there were 2 women at the home. Two crazy Tea Party Gun Nuts types.

When officers arrived at the Marine Circle home around 10 p.m., they were approached by Patterson, who was holding a handgun, Pavey said. While officers were able to talk Patterson into putting down his gun, investigators say Patterson was struggling with the officers when Roger-Vasselin came to the door with a shotgun.

The Sutter County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Victoria Helen Roger-Vasselin, 67, of Yuba City. Officers also arrested Lionel Patterson, 51, who was with Roger-Vasselin at the Mariner Loop home Thursday evening, Yuba City police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey said.

Does she still get counted in the census?

After all, she was living at the residence on April 1, 2010.

I do have to give the old lady a hand here: :clap2::clap2::clap2:

Because unlike the vast majority of teabagging pussies, she was actually willing to put her life on the line for her twisted fucked up beliefs. The rest of the teabaggers all talk a big game but when Mr Po Po comes by with a gun they get their asses in line just like everyone else.

Don't answer your door with a gun when police are obviously outside.

BOTH Occupants of the home came to the door armed

BOTH WERE ARMED WHEN POLICE ARRIVED and there was not recognizable threat to life or property.

If my boss said not to be going to people home after sunset as the article says then I would not show up according to the article 'somewhere around that time" Sunset is at 8:20 PM according to your chart. According to the article the Census worker arrived "sometime around that time at 8 pm ".

Now to mention Yuba has an abnormally high properly crime rate as well for California.

I fail to see how what you would do is relevant. If the law or regulations says census workers can show up before sunset they can show up before sunset, no one gives a fuck what you would do.

Would you point a shotgun at the face of a uniformed police officer, is that something you would do?

BTW if I was your boss and I told you to work till sunset and you cut out 20 minutes before sunset every day I'd fire you.

Wow, what a jump. "A Tea Party nutcase"-- you know nothing of what happened according to the other side ( the dead woman) and make so many assumptions.

If this woman opened her door to the Census worker and she said leave my property-- not knowing who she was and said leave and the Census worker said I am a Census worker and she said leave anyway.

The only facts you know is what some Cencus worker says. You do not know what happened between the worker and the woman. You have NO Clue if this woman had mental problems or was taking drugs -- you jump to the conclsion that she was a Tea Partier bent on getting the government worker.

Tea Party Type!!!!!

The Tea Party Whackos have told people to protest the census. Tea Party Rallies have told the Gun Nuts bring weapons to large rallies. (not all gun owners are gun nuts)

How do YOU KNOW this was not at 8:20 PM? -- The article say 'somewhere around 8 PM" that can be 7:40 or 8:20 ( sunset) . Or anywhere in between. Meaning the Census worker could have arrived at sunset for all you know-- given it says she arrived "somewhere around 8 PM" .
