I have no problem with taking a rationale approach like that. I don’t know the numbers of Haitians accepted. Last I check there were 500k total in the US and Africa was well behind the America’s and Asia for immigration and on par with Europe I believeUh, no we shouldn’t. That’s statement is no different from racism. You aren’t judging people based on who they are but on where they are from. That’s just like judging them on what they looking like. Come on man. This conversation is sick.I don't care about which countries are worse than Haiti. I think a Haitian life is just as valuable as a Norwegian life and I don't think we should be judging people based on the country they happened to have been born in. Thats not what our country is about in my eyes.Glad you're for merit based immigration...that's progress
And what do you think merit based will do?
You think we're getting tons of people from Haiti?
a few.....but lets face it.....there isn't much talent there.
We'll get more people from Europe, certain Middle East countries, India, and Asia....
less from central America and Africa and the Caribbean.......
While the Middle East and India are shit holes........they provide value......Haiti doesn't......it's a complete waste of time.......the only positive thing about Haiti is it's close to the US.
so again, what countries are worse than Haiti.....and by worse....I mean economically, education, health care..........just give me some.....hint: it's gonna be very, very hard to do.
We should be judging people based on the country they have been born in if we're deciding who we want to allow to immigrate here.
My great grandfather came over from Sicily with pennies I’m his pocket and worked as a poor fisherman to provide a life for his family, he taught the trade to his son who grew the business and bought a boat, my grandfather passed it on to my uncle who spent most of his life running the boat then sold it to start a pizza chain which he is now passing down to his boys. That’s the American Dream. That wouldn’t have happened under the idiotic standards that you are spewing.
No, he is right...you have to have a process.....no one is saying to ban all Haitians....but the percentage of people that will be useful is lower there.....so you should get fewer people from there. Those developing countries, have been developing for 100 years.....there are so many issues that keep them so bad off......mostly the government...but it seems people like easy (being told what to do) more than they like freedom.......it's sad...but I don't know how to fix that.
yeah but that's one country vs continents...I don't know either, but it seems like a lot, maybe because they go to NYC and Miami mostly.....point is......we should go to merit, if they meet our qualifications (and we should have an open meeting like the DACA one to discuss those qualifications) then I'm fine with Haitians, Africans, Asians, Europeans, whatever.... as long as they add value to our country
