IBM’s Watson gives proper diagnosis after doctors were stumped

With a supercomper out performing doctors in making medical diagnosis, how far away are we from much of a doctor's daily work load being done using a medical app?

The doctor from Star Trek voyager might be lurking around the corner.

Cool stuff! Computers could do great things in advancing diagnostics as life goes forward. I think that a data bank for viruses, bacteria's, fungi and so on should be put together with a simple blood test. Once the programing was accomplished it could be a very feasible tool for small doctors offices.

Tracking patients at home using a host of different monitoring and testing kits which send the results to an online server/database is already a reality. Using a patient's online data and artificial intelligence to recommend medication and patient treatment is only a few years away.
