The fire on the nuclear submarine 'Miami' (May,2012) is one of the most overwhelming evidences of the total corruption plague attacking the Navy. According to the investigation results the fire occurred cause of a catastrophic worn-out state of the nuclear submarine units. The real scale of the corruption leprosy that slowly, but surely kills the Navy, has finally gone public. Just do a thought, how could an ATOMIC ENGINE UNIT break down on a submarine that belongs to the country with $662 bln. Defense Budget? Do they mess me around?! Everybody understands military office-holders have stolen so much that aren't afraid of lining his pockets with the nuclear submarine repair money.
Do you still believe in Hollywood propaganda rubbish and 'Join the Navy' posters? F*ck these liars and thieves!

Firefighters were still battling the blaze after 10pm, with equipment brought in from Logan international airport in Boston, about 60 miles away.

Six people – including one of the firefighters, who was suffering from heat exhaustion – have been treated and released, according to the shipyard authorities.

The fire still was not out shortly before midnight but a shipyard spokesman said the situation was improving.

All nonessential personnel on the submarine were ordered to evacuate when the blaze was reported. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Local media reported that black smoke was visible in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The naval shipyard is located on Seavey Island just over the New Hampshire-Maine border.

The Los Angeles class submarine, whose home port is Groton, Connecticut, arrived at the shipyard in March. The vessel typically carries a crew of 13 officers and 120 enlisted personnel.

Damage from the fire was limited to the forward compartment spaces, which include crew living and command and control spaces, Rear Admiral Rick Breckenridge said in a statement.

Breckenridge, who is in charge of submarines in the region, said the ship's nuclear reactor has been shut down for more than two months and remained safe throughout the incident.

If they keep building new toys for big boys it will keep draining the budget. The fat asses in the Pentagon still act as if war with Russia is looming while jihad terrorism is the real enemy. How many stealth bombers do we need or gigantic Aircraft Carriers?
