'Happy to Be Alive' Says Cop Shot in Neck
Corporal Larry Adams faces months of rehabilitation from a gunshot wound. On Tuesday police released booking photos of the suspects.

The police officer shot in the neck after he likely interrupted the robbery of an Annapolis 7-Eleven store says he is working to regain use of his left arm so he can return to duty.

Corporal Larry Adams was discharged April 21 from the University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Facebook page. Adams is recuperating at his Pasadena home, reports the Capital-Gazette, from nerve damage caused by the near-fatal gunshot wound.

Doctors say Adams may face a year of rehabilitation before he returns to work.

“I’m very happy to be alive,” Adams told the newspaper Tuesday. “Now I’m looking forward to going back to work to do the job I was doing.”

The police department on Tuesday released booking mugshots of the man suspected of shooting Adams and an accomplice.

Adams’ wife, Ritu Adams, on April 13 thanked the public for its support during their ordeal.

“Thank you everybody for your love, support, prayers,” she said at a press conference. “You never think this is going to happen to you. … We’re very, very touched by all of your love and your support and all the positive wishes and prayers. My kids thank you also.”

An online fundraising page was set up to help the Adams family with expenses not covered by insurance. The couple have two young children. About $40,000 has been raised to date.

Colvin Lamar White, 30, of Annapolis, was arrested in the shooting and is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center without bond on charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and other charges.

Two days later, police arrested Danielle Nicole Blake, 29, of Severn, on charges of conspiracy to commit attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and four other charges, reports the Capital-Gazette. She is also being held without bond.

Police spokesman Lt. T.J. Smith said White and Blake have children together.

The shooting occurred about 2 a.m. April 10 in the area of 720 College Parkway East. Officers went to check on Adams when he failed to respond to his radio.

Police say Adams went to the 7-Eleven store for a routine business check, and was told that a person outside the store was acting in a suspicious manner. When the officer went to investigate, there was an altercation with White.

Witnesses said they heard at least one gunshot when White apparently shot Adams and fled the scene. Smith says the suspect did not use the officer’s weapon to shoot him.

Smith says this is the first Anne Arundel County Police officer to be shot in the line of duty since July of 2008, when an officer was shot in Brooklyn Park. There has never been a fatal shooting in the department’s history.

But, if the cop is a teaper... am sure the shooting was justified. He was probably trying to lynch the black guy.

Wow. ANOTHER left winger saying the cop deserved to be shot.

Liberals are disappointed that the cop survived.

What I love about this man is that as soon as he is able to, his every intention is to get back to what he was doing before he got shot. :) :) :)

God bless you and him and his family always!!! :) :) :)
