Trump can't block users from his Twitter feed, federal judge rules

free speech..it's a thing:

"President Donald Trump cannot block Twitter users for the political views they have expressed, a federal judge in Manhattan ruled on Wednesday.

Blocking users from viewing his Twitter account — a feature offered by the social media platform — is unconstitutional and a violation of the First Amendment, Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald wrote in her ruling.

"While we must recognize, and are sensitive to, the President’s personal First Amendment rights, he cannot exercise those rights in a way that infringes the corresponding First Amendment rights of those who have criticized him," Buchwald wrote.

The government had argued that blocked individuals could still access the president’s tweets. The judge agreed but said that even considering the president's First Amendment rights, preventing users from interacting directly with him on Twitter represented a violation of a "real, albeit narrow, slice of speech.""

You'll have nothing more than crickets with this one.

See Post #2.

Nice to see a judge that cares about our first amendment rights!

Trump wants to destroy them and all his so called base can do is jump off that cliff!

So does that mean Twitter now has to allow everyone onto their platform regardless of their political views or posting content?

No...i think it means that no one can ban users from responding to their tweets..unless they can prove egregious abuse.

What about people who are banned from twitter? They can't reply to the tweets, is Twitter now responsible for letting them back on?

How can only Twitter approved users have 1st amendment rights?

Because no one knows what Trump Tweets...
It's not the knowing..it's the right to reply--which you would have known..had you read the link--but why would you, right?

So now no one can be banned from Twitter because everyone has the right to reply to the tweets of public figures?

Twitter cannot moderate their own forums?
Incorrect..peeps can still be banned by Twitter..just not by users based solely upon their political views.

Twitter is a public forum...thus the judge has ruled the first amendment rights and protections apply.

The same way “News” outlets don’t allow replies to ideological “news” stories.

If Trump can't block people no one can (did you hear that Jake?)...but do not fear this will be challenged and over ruled....

You know what I really liked in the judge's ruling? When (s)he called a tweet a "real, albeit narrow, slice of speech." The preferred manner of expression of our President is a narrow slice of meaning, too.

"I'm a twitter bitch....The only full grown man who has a message war with Rosie O'Donnell. Cause I'm like...a bitch like that!"

You're right.

The drama queen in Mar A Lago North makes sure he's constant delusional twits are so stupid, so outrageous, so utterly un-America will get played and replayed. He's actually quite talented at being the queen bee.

Also true is that he will continue to attack the constitution. We have never before had a "president" as hostile to basic rights as trump is. OTOH, he has not one clue what's in the US Constitution.

Lol! Just as you failed to debate statutes, you are also grossly uniformed about the Constitution as well.

By who? Total ignoramuses to the Constitution?

In Trump's case, "meaning"= "lie".

And his reason for hating O'Donnell is that he and Rudy lied to get him money from a 9/11 fund that Rosie O'Donnell donated to -- $1MILLION. Then the pos bragged that since the towers fell, his building was the tallest. Disgusting.

He will never forgive that he was the asshole while she did what he is too crooked to do.

Yep, that's duh donuld for you.
